I’ve personally had to fix the carnage from oversized tires blowing out and the stock spare being put on

 

What did you replace the Moog with?

 

Yeah it's not good for the diff. I had a 300 mile trip home with mismatched fronts which fucked with my alignment but at least the drive wheels were okay

 

I bent the driveshaft in my F150 just enough that it vibrated all the way home. I backed up into a washout and high centered the bitch. The dealer doesn't fuck with drive shafts and opted to replace it with new. I don't pay for repairs and I wasn't going to argue. The only thing I noticed was the graze mark, but that was enough.

 

That's what I would do. Not worth the risk of running mismatched tires even though the difference between the two is minimal.

You don't need a matching KO2 as a spare unless you're really that picky about them matching, any cheap tire in the same size will do fine as a spare. My spare is a Cooper Discoverer AT vs my other tires which are Discoverer ST Maxx (different tread). But they're all 255/85r16

 

I wasn't planning on getting a matching KO2, they're too pricey to buy one or two off. Whatever is cheapest on America's Tire is what I'll get.

 

Did what I should have done used Meyle suspension parts. They're an OEM supplier to BMW/MINI, but sell aftermarket too

 

New Moog control arm is actually a genuine Nissan part

 

Polished cap stainless is usually a good price and looks nice. Also honk your DS bolts down better, like put some ass on em, they're a fine thread for a reason and split ring lock washers are mechanical garbage that has been proven to do nothing.

 

I could be wrong, but I suspect Moog re-boxes a lot of import line parts, some good, some bad. I can't buy the stuff anymore. The entire Moog experience with that MINI filled me with rage.

A lot of aftermarket things are made by the OE manufacturer, as I've come to find out. I fix iPhones, and the digitizers I buy from China are the same Apple OE part, the only difference is the one I buy from China has black Sharpie over the Apple logo. You can still see the Apple logo under the Sharpie.

 

That looks nice. Wonder what the thread/pitch is. I believe the size is M6.

 

M6x1.0 you'll have to measure the length

 

Don't go too long either or they'll bottom out in the hub and not seat the dial face completely

 

Should I go for the flanged bolts, or the standard hex head? McMaster-Carr doesn't make the stock combined washer/bolt that come stock in Metric.

 

I forget is it a lock washer or just a washer, you can just use flange bolts and some blue loctite, just make sure the flange fits in the boss

 

MMC only sells those in packs of 50, bummer. There's a fastener shop in Berkeley called Bowlin I use that serves UC Berkeley and Lawrence-Livermore National Labs I went to buy the stainless steel hardware for my horns at. I'll go pay them a visit. I remember when I was waiting in line, most of the people who came in were mechanics who lost bolts.

I'd go there more often, but it's a bit of a drive. And for a $0.10 bolt, I usually go to Home Depot.
