Bleh. All these different tire sizes are getting messed up in my head. Sorry everyone.

Point being, truck came with 225/75R15 wheels and tires from the factory. I now have 265/75R16 tires. I need a new spare as a result, currently looking for the correct Tundra steelie.

I need a new spare because my current setup is LT265/75R16. My factory spare is P225/75R15.

If you paid attention you’d find his currrnt tire size is a little bigger than his factory spare, he wants a matching one that works with tundra brakes.

    Simple

Even it did fit my current setup, you're right it's the original 20 y/o factory spare. It still has the paint marks and green dealer sticker on it! Pretty cool. Never been used.

His 15" spare won't even fit his truck.

Exactly. They say 10 yrs is about how long you should change out a spare tire. I changed mine this even though I'll probably never need it. This year was the first time I ever even dropped the spare down in 14yrs & it was only to change the tire.

As time goes on, I've found out that SR5 is absolutely meaningless.

I've seen fully loaded SR5's with sunroofs, power everything, etc etc. I've also seen SR5's with crank windows, no A/C, and I believe no power steering.

Holy fuck this is the longest conversation about spare tires ever held.

I could be wrong. Maybe I'm thinking of the pickup.

Point being, I have seen fully loaded Tacomas with the SR5 insignia, and base model to ends all base model Tacomas with the SR5 insignia.

And not just for Tacomas either. The SR5 trim level is totally meaningless these days. IIRC it first appeared on the Hilux & means Sport Rally 5-speed. Yeah my truck ain't no 5 speed. ;)

Ideally I'd want to keep it, but it's the stock tire size which is smaller than my current setup. Plus it will not fit my Tundra brakes due to the 15" diameter.

I went wheeling with @Sperrunner out at the Hollister SVRA today, and he borrowed my 5-Lug spare just in case. Made me realize how fucked I'd be without one out in the boonies.

What makes it even funnier is what SR5 originally meant in the first place. Sport Rally 5-Speed.

Nowadays Toyota is just going willy-nilly and combining them with everything. i.e. PreRunner SR5 v6
