They just put so much more thought into the build quality and design of the 4Runner vs. Tacoma. I think we've had this conversation before. The 3rd Gen T4R is basically identical to the 1st Gen Tacoma, but there's more thought put into it like more sound deadening, better seats, ergonomics, etc etc etc.

The 1st Gen came from a time where pickup trucks were still transitioning from being a workhorse into a daily driver, so I can't rally complain.

That's the plan. I might as well buy the right tire size, no point in going for a different one if I'm already putting money into a new tire. America's Tire sells the cheapest tire in my size at $87.

Looking for the right Tundra steelie now.

Trust me I've tried to look for used tires in that size, it's just such an uncommon size I can never fine a used one. Most of the tires at Pick-n-Pull and these used tire shops are passenger car tires or SUV tires. The truck tires are either too small from a Ranger or Pickup, or too big from a RAM or an F250.

I'll buy it new. No big deal, it's not that much anyway. Buy once, cry later as they say.

I almost bought a used BFG Rugged Terrain for $100 shipped on ebay. I hate Walmart but my local Walmart had the same tire brand new for $105.

What a waste of money though cause it's not a great tire & I certainly didn't need an AT tire for a spare that I'll never use & never have. I must have been drinking that day.

I made a mistake getting the aspect ratio of 75. 70 is just so much more common, and I could've used an off-the-shelf 3rd Gen spare with that tire size already mounted.

Plus my damn tires wouldn't be rubbing the frame if my tires were at the 70 aspect ratio.

Tires currently on the truck are only about a year old, I won't be replacing those for another five years. I do a lot of driving, towing, and hauling, just not so much wheeling.

    I'll find a spare.

Cause 265/70r16 is stock for 01-04 TRD Tacoma (T4Rs too) & on 2nd gen & 3rd gen TRD Tacomas. 75 is not a common tires size if at all on Toyotas.

Yep. Oh well, I can live with it. It only rubs at full lock, and I don't care for spacers.

Because SR5 started back in the early to mid 80s 5-speed Corollas as trim level ... it was the plain jane, SR5 and GTS.

Well if you had 70s then everyone would just make fun of you for being "stock". ;)

70s would also look funny with your lift. I remember the day I lifted my truck & went on a test drive. I thought it looked funny as hell. But whatever, my new wheels & tires went on the next morning.

Hilux had the SR5 trim level before Corollas in the mid 70s.

Speaking of aforementioned trip to the Hollister Hills SVRA, I took my PreRunner 4x4 conversion out for the first time since I did the swap back in December of 2017 today. Only 11 months before I got to test my 4WD properly, not bad.

Thanks to @Sperrunner for keeping me company. He also ran over a boulder, and only god knows why he didn't see it.

You do need spacers, your wheels/stance looks too narrow! Looks funny, well IMO anyway.

    You make a good point.

My trailer is going need spacers with the matching 3rd Gen wheels I'm throwing on it, so might as well match the trailer's stance while I'm towing it. Haha.

    Thanks!

I have more photos, I'll go dump them in the BS thread. Wiped the dust off my D5200 for today, I've been using my iPhone X too much to take pictures.

I'd love to go, we should do a TW run or something. Thanks for keeping me in mind.

There was a gang of brand new Tundras when I was at the SVRA, and it's funny because their trucks don't fit on more than half of the trails there. I couldn't get good pictures of them, but there were at least ten of them in a convoy.

In the 70s some SR5 were more a model than a trim level. Like the body of the 75 was way different and heavier than the 4 speed.
