Can you attach the tether to it so it doesn't get lost?

    There is @mesojdm "gasshole" mod
I had that gas cap on my 17 and everything was fine for about a week. Then I parked on a incline (nose down) and I got the Cel light and traction control light.

I've seen a few people here talking about locking caps. I've never had a gas theft issue before in 18 years. Is this stuff common in your guys cities?

Not so much about stealing gas but maybe pouring something in. People stuck & do stupid shit. Most vehicles today have a locked gas door that is opened from a release inside but our trucks for some odd reason don't. My wife's 2018 Rav4 has a gas door release but mine doesn't. Why?

The 1st gens had a locking door, just like 2nd gens had driver grab handle 3rd gens dont.... now the split between 3rd gens. 16,17, and 18 have rear driver cubby and now the 19's don't. Just the way it goes, we lose more of those amenities to get more computers.

When I looked at his website there was nothing available.

Are you saying that the gas cap caused the light......and if so did going back to stock clear it??

Yes it did... well I pulled the negative off the battery for about a half hour and returned to stock cap and all has been good. Just happens when I park uphill or downhill. I tried 3 times before going back to stock.

    That's good to know.
When you removed the battery cable for that long did you lose all of the radio presets?

Nope. Those things are in there forever. You can only change them, but not delete.

So it's not like the olden days!

I did have something weird happen the other day.....I had saved a bunch of radio stations to fill all the satellite spots and the other day the whole block of sat radio presets were back......very odd and a bit of a pita.

You may need a software update for the head unit. They have been known to have issues with some of them. Usually just rebooting itself in the middle of driving.

I put a $12 Stant locking gas cap on my 1st gen once.

Then I had to replace my entire gas tank because of the hole in it. Fricking gas theives. They first tried to drill off the lock on the cap, then they tried to pry it off, then they gave up and drilled a hole the tank.

    Never again.

I've never had it reboot but I'll look into it.

There is a anti- siphon bracket inside the filler neck, you can’t get a hose into the tank. But if some asshole wants to put a contaminant in there, well your screwed. The locking gas cap has thrown codes in my 1st gen, and in my 2nd gen. I just keep my fingers crossed on my 3rd gen. Anyone want a locking gas cap that won’t work, you pay shipping.

I’m also glad the door just simply opens without an internal lock mechanism. If someone wants your gas, they’ll bust the gas door however they can. They can have it. I’d rather not have to pay for the gas AND the other stuff they damaged.

I had the same one, no CEL for about a week but then happened twice over the next week. It went in the trash :(
