Ran across this video looking for ways to add a small turn signal to the side of my ARB bumper. I'm not fond of having the blinker only in the front of the vehicle.

The guy uses a Hopkins 48895 trailer light converter and some rewiring to get the side marker to blink with the turn signal, albeit asynchronously. This looks like a reasonable alternative to the blinker relocation mod.

Not knowing a lot about automotive electrics, I'm not sure if this is this clever or stupid, or somewhere in between. Are there any reasons why this is a bad idea?

Looks like a good idea! I'm looking at also putting some type of turn indicator/marker light on the back of each side mirror too. Kind of like my 2009 F350 had; I liked those.

My turn signal controller functions a lot nicer and proven it works.

I know this is an old thread but towards the end he mentions connecting the YELLOW wire to the driver side turn signal wire. Does he mean SPLICING into the harness wire or cut/cap the hot incoming wire and then connecting the LIGHT yellow to the wire feeding the light?

Same with the passenger side turn signal. He mentions connecting the LIGHT GREEN wire to the passenger side turn signal wire. Does he mean SPLICE into or CUT/CAP the hot incoming and then connecting the LIGHT GREEN to the wire feeding the light?

Just watched the video again. I find the guy's voice a little commical. He sounds like a subdued version of my imitation of an overtly gay man.

Didn’t really time the process but maybe an hour.

I realize this is an old thread, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I finished with the install, but I’ve got some gremlins to work out. I completed the install in accordance with the video and the schematic that was in the video’s description, but it didn’t work as advertised and I’m leaning towards operator error.

My side marker lights are now completely inoperable and my turn signals only work when my parking lights/headlights are off. Inside the cab, both turn arrows are illuminated on the dash when my parking lights/headlights are on. Does anyone have any pointers?3ECA6E86-16DE-4C2F-9525-4038D3159D3C.jpg0AC40ED6-CCFC-4998-A970-321BF5FB4AC2.jpg7BD031DF-B53E-4866-B032-A0FBF31AAA02.jpgD2B1C42E-1321-4131-8D2E-12978B483C5C.jpg757ED9AB-315D-43D3-88B7-10577558FB23.jpg02CC32CD-6E5B-4C04-8947-A84FB5ED7E23.jpgBBC066FC-5976-4BF9-9AC1-877E9AB4875C.jpgBA6162A4-AB2A-48ED-B41E-D24B855CEE32.jpg

Disregard, fellas (not that I received any inputs). I’ve decided to apply the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method thanks to this source:
    https://youtu.be/IxxQh4Pxjkc

It definitely works for the conversion and replacing the electronic flasher eliminates the hyperblink issue.
