my tweeter just blew on my rainbow germaniums and i am debating wether to replace the tweeters or buy a new set of comps. i am leaning towards new comps just to change things up :). the comps i am looking at are re xxx, image dynamics xs, dls x program, rainbow slc or hybrid audio technology clarus. the comps will be run off a zed leviathan when i pick one up. i listen to rap, hip hop and reggae music if that helps.

If you had germaniums then you're obviously a SQ guy...or at least that's what the previous set would lead me to believe. What's your price range?

    Hrm.

Do you have the capability to go active?

If so, have you considered doing away with your passive xovers and just replacing the tweeters?

I've heard good things about vifa drivers, and seas are always a good choice.

If you can't go active, and you want to stick to passives, I'd go with hybrids. Scott is a great guy to work with, and they have an excellent , "buy up" program where you can trade jb your old hybrids for a discount on the next line up

i don't have the ability to go active now, i am running a two channel amp was going to upgrade to a 4 channel. but instead of of 4 channel i am going to get the 6 channel zed leviathan since i tailgate and camp alot so i can hook up some 6x9 boxes to put outside. the thought has crossed my mind with buying new tweeters and going and saving a few hundred dollars.

i wouldn't mind running hybrids since not many people where i live have them.

Well, if you have a built in xover or DSP in your amp, you can ditch the passive xovers and just buy a new tweeter to match with your midbass.

Or, if not, I say pull the trigger on the Hybrid Audio. I haven't heard anything but amazing things about the business and their products.
