New design eBay snorkel

I would like to see some data on this. I really do not believe putting a snorkel on your truck, when you consider where the stock intake is located, reduces silica content enough to be worthwhile. We have already discussed the definition of the word snorkel. If I see some data I might be convinced otherwise.. if not, you're just spreading baseless misinformation.

 

The video proves that the first vehicle does not inhale the dust created by the second.

 

Basically. I'm sure even if the trailing vehicle had a snorkel it would still be sucking up tons of dust. As far as the scientific method is concerned, this "test" fails.

 

Yeah I’ll agree that the video doesn’t really help prove or disprove anything since the snorkeled truck spent most of the time in front... I think it’s time for us to have an experiment

Tell people you got the snorkel for the looks. That will end all debates on its function. This is not the first time an aftermarket part for a vehicle has proven its claim. Another reason why there are so many after parts for vehicles. It’s mostly marketing. Some do prove their uses while others were just “cool” or even untasteful add on. This is maybe close to if an aftermarket intake is worth it and does it give any noticeable gains. How about that deck plate mod?

What I do fine amusing is the cost of this compare to the brand name one. I’ll just leave it at that.

If you don't mind taking a few pics of the install process of this particular snorkel it would be much appreciated...will be my first time doing a mod like this that requires cutting that big of a hole in my truck. I've already drilled the roof so I'm not opposed to it lol. But would appreciate a few photos

did you use a hole saw?

or did you just cut out the hole with a jig saw?


Trying to figure out which way is better, looking at the template it seems to be a weird size

 

Please do not use a jig saw

 

it can be done with the right blade. The 3rd gen snorkels from ARB have some weird oval shape and you have to use a jig saw.

 

Yikes. Sounds like a pain.

Man the more I look at this the more I want it lol. I have absolutely no need of one but I do like the look specially paired with my ARB bumper. I keep telling myself I don’t need to spend the $100 and pay off credit cards more. I’m hoping eBay will have another 10-20% off coupon around Black Friday

 

Sure does look like it. I googled safari snorkels on 1st gens and from a few pics they appeared kinda the same way around the door. Curious to hear from someone that’s installed it.

 

It clears and I’m out with it tonight with my gf for a test run I checked that as well because it threw me off for a minute.

 

It's not noticeable, just had to make one of the holes bigger on the mounting bracket.
