Yes it's called a 5 pin connector for CB/HAM (there are other shape/use micophone 5 pin connectors), but like he said there's no adapter to go to coax, because it doesn't connect directly to the antenna. The particular CB you have there is a remote mount, and it should have come with that box in the first place. If not, then yes, that's what you need. Edit: then that explains it, he didn't send you the whole thing, just the handset.

I don't see a mounting stud in that list... Do you already have one?

Personal experience with the quick-disconnect, I didn't like it. As heavy ass a spring as was in it, there was still play with a 4' firestik such that there was this light thunk as the top waved around and the disconnect end shifted back and forth. I ended up selling it to a forum member. :D I also found the spring wasn't all that necessary, at least for where I was running it (center behind the cab). In fact, the spring let it fling around too much. That length of Firestik has enough flex in it for tree branches and stuff. Even drug mine (straight) through a parking garage once when I forgot about it. :anonymous:

This is the setup I am going for. Mounting stud as in?

Never set on of these up before so wouldn't be surprised if I am missing stuff

The mounting stud is what the antenna cable screws into on one side and the antenna (or spring and disconnect) screw into on the other. Here's a basic one that has no bracket: https://www.amazon.com/FIRESTIK-RAD...d=1541352165&sr=8-4&keywords=cb+mounting+stud Most of them come with a bracket of some kind that is specific your mounting situation. There's some that are made to fit through hood channels, or clamp onto round things like huge mirror supports, or just 90 degree or flat brackets... In the pic, that black box is some sort of mount I don't recognize, possibly custom - I even see strain relief coming out of the bottom of it. The first piece out the top that looks like a double nut is actually the top half of the mounting stud, which the spring is then screwed into, then the disconnect is screwed into that, and then the antenna is screwed into that.

As a side note, I wonder how that setup's performance is. The firestik isn't a NGP (no ground plane) antenna, and I don't see any extra grounding between the mount and anything else other than the fact that it's mounted to a metal part of the bed - but I don't know if that is grounded to frame or not. Since we have plastic beds, ground plane for the antenna can be an issue. Even though I have mine mounted on the rail behind the cab, that rail isn't grounded to frame to I ran wires to do it.

Edit: I just noticed the bracket you mentioned and looked it up - it does appear to just be the metal bracket (they don't show a pic of the bottom/back of it and the 'box' isn't really a box), so you need a mounting stud pretty much like what I linked to. That will come apart in the middle, then you screw it together through the bracket you get (making sure you have that non-conductive washer on the right side).

    I'd skip the spring.
Stop into Johnson's Corner truck stop on one of your trips, they have a pretty nice display case with everything you might ever need for CB's, maybe not the specific mount for the 3rd gen, but they'll have everything else.

    wire whip antenna ftw.:D

Have you talked to @Coop68 ? I know his cb has the disconnect and he may have had the spring at one time.

5 gallon bucket, with a lid, and a parts brush will go a long way for cleaning stuff.
When its gets really scummy you can strain it through a cloth and keep using it.
