My association with my 2001 Tacoma began when I purchased it new in 2001 at Moreno Valley Toyota in southern California. The following year, I purchased a 2002 4Runner that I sold last year with 200,00 miles on the odometer. I enjoy restoring old Fords, but I have to admit I have had very good luck with the two Toyota vehicles I have owned.

I am an old retired guy and who currently lives on the Central Coast of California in Atascadero. I moved up here from Orange County just over three years ago. I was so glad to get out of the rat race in Socal. My next move will be out of California all together. I can't wait!

My Tacoma is a Prerunner version with a 2.7 liter four cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. It is a two wheel drive model and currently has about 83,000 miles on it. I recently had the valves adjusted, all of the fluids changed, replaced the battery, new hoses, belts and a set of spark plugs.

It's an eighteen year old truck with 80,000 miles that has not seen a lot of driving. The Michelin tires are ready for replacement mostly because they are cracking. The truck sits in the garage most of the time. I would appreciate hearing from anybody with some good suggestions on new tires. The truck does not see any off road mileage.

I really haven't done much in the way of tinkering on this truck, mostly because it keeps running and running. I am hoping to pick up some ideas from other TW members that will help keep the Taco running for many more miles. Thanks for the add!

Hey Scott: I am not really a big time Toyota guy, having been messing with Fords for many, many years. However, I can't seem to go anywhere without somebody asking me if I want to sell my truck. I am starting to see that there is a rather large following of Tacoma trucks.

Love the Central Coast. Just broke in my 2019 TRD PRO in the dunes and waves of Pismo! Morro Bay is our getaway from L.A. Happy to connect in the future. Cell = 818.406.9159. Working on a hybrid retired / working lifestyle. My truck is my mobile home, office and living room!

We live in Atascadero which is about a 30 minute drive inland from Morro Bay (up the 41). I get down to the "Embarcadero" from time to time to enjoy the bay and the restaurants. I choose my times to go down to the beach so I can avoid the crowds as much as possible. Atascadero is up the grade from San Luis Obispo. It is the largest city in SLO County by area and a little more rural than the surrounding towns. It is a pleasant change from Orange County!
