Mathews Z7

Picked up a new bow finally. Switched from my Hoyt over to the Mathews Z7. Super smooth, very quiet, and wow how technology had passed me by.

 

Dang!! I know absolutely nothing about bows but that one looks insane!!!

 

yeah firefighter, it shoots insanely fast and smooth too.


Colton, I really like it, I switched to support Mathews because of all they do to help the youth and not-for-profit organizations. Hoyt makes great bows too.

 

So can you shoot 3 arrows at a time? it does have 3 strings

 

What kinda rest is that? is it a QAD?

I shot the z7 its a great bow but it just wasnt for me.

 

i have the same rig...QAD rest and everything.

mine has been an absolute bitch to tune!! turns out, my dealer didnt notice the stupid idler wheel leaning too much. even when i pointed it out to him, he said, "err..close enough..." (what a dick) i had to get another dealer to press it and put a few twist in the right yoke cable. i was about days from throwing it into a lake, or ebay it. it was that difficult. still cant papertune it perfectly. 1/4" left tear which i decided to ignore. bow is wierd..i seem to be more accurate with it at longer distances. with FT's at 60 yards..i can shoot 3-4" groups.. the solid wall makes it easy to aim steady.

hoosier..is your bow tuning easy?

 

i was truly torn between the hoyt maxxis and the Z7.

same problem my dealer is a complete blow job and my Reezen is a bitch to tune, sometimes i wonder why i didnt stick with my parker bow.

 

not to hijack..270 is your idler wheel to spec?

so glad i didnt sell my switchback XT!! but i'm very close with my Z7, and i learned so much!!!

 

Nah man it wasnt my wheel that i had problem with it was my cam that kept eating up my cable, like really bad after like 6-7 shots. I took it back to him and hes oh yea thats normal come back when it breaks, hes a real dickhead. So i got a new cable form vapor trail archery and have yet to go back there. To help with tuning I ripped there grip off and put on an aftermarket grip to reduce torquing, it gets much better now grouping now.

 

yea,QAD ultra LD. Not too sure about it yet.

haven't got my arrows yet. Been shooting odd balls I've got around the house. My dealer is the second largest(in sales service) in Indiana and is very good! Just got my arrows in yesterday and I have to make the 1.5 hour trip to get them and a few other things this next week.

what arrow did you end up with? i ran ontarget2 and came up with a .340" spine..i got the goldtip hunters 7595's. great bang for the buck.

 

Check out archerytalk.com they have classifieds like the buy/sell/trade we have here. If you can stand buying a bow used and a year or two old you can get last years top of the line bow for like 500 bucks much bettern the the 800-900 they want for them new. The only downside is they have now warrenty however if somthing breaks it will probably cost less then what you save initially. I've picked up 5 bows from the classifieds there in the last two years. I think I may have a slight archery problem.

 

Are you my twin brother man? uh, yeah, my guy is setting me up Gold Tip 7595's. Okay, just to see if you are my twin, I draw 28.5" and I'm going to shoot these arrows at 29". How about you?

AT is a great place for all things archery!! Yes you are addicted dude....but it's a healthy addiction.

 

been doing a little refirguring and I think I'm going to change my order to the 5575's. My draw weight is 60# and I'll probably never go back higher. The 7595's jump up quit a bit in weight. What's your draw weight?

 

my bow wont shoot the 5575's no mater what. but with the 7595, i get the cleanest paper hole with the limbs maxed (.5 turns backed out at the limbs)..so i am pulling 70lbs. i bet 5575 will be perfect for your setup!!

 

thanks, good to know, I figured you were pulling more than 60. I'd like to go back to 70 but way too much baseball and softball on my shoulder for that.

i was jacking broadheads into a tennis ball sized circle yesterday - 40 yards. at 60, not so much. but even my fieldtips were not flying tight at 60. i blame it on the hot temps..i was melting.
