About $13k with my down payment and my trade in. But yeah we had a hard time finding a bank that would do the loan...ended up Wells Fargo did it and fucked me on the interest rate I agreed on with Toyota finance. But that's another story.

People say salesmen are con artists/liars...it's not them you need to be worried about. Its the fucking finance department, they're criminals and they'll sneak whatever they can right by you if you don't watch them like a hawk.

I'm impressed he squeezed 8k of value out of a 4 year old tC. But 13k does seem more reasonable for a used car loan.

My Dad has worked every position in a dealership pretty much and all his friends have too, I know you can't shirk on the reading of any document or the fine print of any handshake.

Yeah those little Scions do hold value pretty well for what they are. It had 70k on it too. I had an 06 tC before that and got $6k for it on a trade in with 140k miles on it. But we really had to fight them on that one, the key is to be willing to literally get up and walk away. 9/10 they'll stop you before you get to the door lol

You’d have to check the frame, it could be messed up with that it bent or whatever.

Basically just look at it like you would a normal vehicle

Played that one many times, my family rarely holds on to cars long. I'm actually the anomaly there

Yeah in the end it was my mistake for not being more diligent in reading the fine print, I put faith in his word that I was getting what I explicitly said I wanted. I won't ever make that mistake again.

I use to think that way too, but if it’s mechanical sound, straight and safe and you don’t plan on reselling, why not.

Same. I've owned several bikes that were salvage titles

    TRUTH

I remember when you could walk into a dealership and walk out with a nice deal by paying cash in full. Now they give two shits if thats the case. They WANT you to finance with them. If you have access to a credit union, chances are they have some nice perks. My credit union has a dedicated team which will track down what you want, what options and give you a best case with numbers. I'll NEVER go back to spending 6 hours in a dealership crunching numbers and having to endure multiple people coming at me with their 'best deal'. :goingcrazy:

Bikes are different. You drop one once and mess up the faring and nothing else and the insurance company will salavge it. Because those oem farings are stupid expensive

Salvage bikes can be a complete losing game or a win. I had a very clean Sabre 750 V4 that was perfect and hadn't been laid down or damaged and everytime I rode it I came back missing parts. The thing ran so great though and the V4 was so smooth.
