Hi everyone! Just picked up a 19 Cement Taco Off-road edition. I love the thing, it’s super cool. I previously had a 2014 Runner which I loved.

I really enjoy this forum and am learning a ton.

Can you guys please give me some advice on running boards/rock sliders? Honestly my primary goal is that they extend out enough to protect my truck from dipshits and door dings. Secondary goal is as a step for a toddler. Cost effective would be nice and I also will not be drilling any holes. There’s zero chance I will be using it to slide on rocks, if that’s Happening then I have been kidnapped.

Thanks so much really appreciate your time and info.

    Welcome!

As for steps/sliders, if you’re not going to use them for off-roading, I would check craigslist for some running boards. Many people remove them and sell them for cheap. If buying new, I would go sliders for sure. They are around the same price as most new steps, but offer much more in the way of protection.

Thanks very much, and may I say your gif game is strong.

Any suggestions on brands? I was overwhelmed by how many choices there are.

I had 3" N-FAB steps on my truck before sliders, for what they were they were great - definitely provided door ding protection.

I haven’t looked into steps at all, so not sure what’s out there as far as that goes. The sliders I plan to eventually go with are from SOS Offroad Concepts. Here’s a link to their 3rd gen sliders.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but do 18 and 19 steps fit the same?

I think the OEM predator steps look nice and seem like they may provide a bit of protection as well.
