Toyota calls the glass panel that opens on a Tacoma a moonroof.

Most, if not all, manufacturers call any glass panel that slides open above or below the roof a moonroof.

Any panel I’ve ever seen called a sunroof was manually tilted and removable.

Regarding issues, other than reduced headroom, I’ve never had a leak or any other issue in the 8-10 vehicles I’ve owned with sun/moon roofs.

You won't get ejaculated out of the truck via a moonroof/sunroof if you're wearing a seatbelt.

    I always thought that:
moonroof can tilt and allow you to slide it open as little or as much as you like.
sunroof can tilt and then has a presets that open about 1/4 or all the way.

I always prefer to have moonroofs and never had any major issues with them. Had them on an 04 Matrix and an 07 tC. Both cars dont have any issues with leaks or anything. I like tilting them or cracking them open on hot days (when parking). Also nice to see the sky through the glass. On occasion, it is fun to drive with them open.

As for the Tacoma, I was priced out of a moonroof. Makes the decision much easier. I would have been conflicted between having moonroof or not for this off road rig. I feel like no moonroof will help with the stability of the truck when traveling on bumpy roads. On the flip side, it would be nice to poke my head out of a moonroof and enjoy the view.

Never had one leak never heard of anyone saying they leak except an old fable carried over from a shitty Honda or simething in the 1980s. It's 2018 and in the last 4 cars and 20+ years, never once had a problem, especially an OEM one. Aftermarket for $400 In a sketch shop? Okay maybe a chance of leaking.

Moonroof/sunroof no matter...I have one in my Limited and the slider stays open year round to let light in which brightens the beautiful 2 tone leather/letherette interior. Others say it pops the colors! Never a leak, drip, perfect. Like a breath of fresh air; er light!

I think it depends on where you live. Out here in So CA. I used the sun roof almost every day for seventeen years on the last truck I owned. I wish I had one every day for about the first four years I've had this truck. Never heard anybody having leaking issues except on aftermarket installs.

Ejaculated... lol i think you mean ejected.

I am slightly worried about the moonroof on the Pro due to height issues, I am 6' but often wear a hat. It seemed tight when I sat in a 2019 sport with the moonroof.

If you are not worried about that I say it is personal preference. Other than the height thing I am happy it has a moonroof

    for what it is worth:

I loved the moonroof in my 4Runner but the auto-open feature rarely worked. If you have one I highly recommend getting 3M Christelene (Sp) tint. It’s amazing and blocks all heat from the sun when closed.

For my Taco I’m 6’4 so a moonroof wasn’t gonna work in my Taco. I look at it like there is less to break now.

Hey man either get used to not having one or go get one if you want it. There are no pros and cons. I do not understand people who think that they're going to buy a brand new truck and a few years down the line all of the sudden its going to start leaking on their heads. Look at the old 4runners with sunroofs that still work fine. Holy shit guys

To be honest, this is the first vehicle I have owned in about 20 years that doesn't have a sun roof. I have missed the sun roof noda.

I have a sunroof on my car and I hardly ever use it. I opted not get one on my Tacoma. After having both I would not get a sunroof not worth the extra money to me.

My daughter had one in her C230 Kompressor (more Chrysler than Mercedes). That one was known for jumping tracks. I had to remove the spare tire to work on that sun/moon roof. It was like Jenga: remove spare tire, remove trunk lining, remove c-pillar covers, remove headliner. The second time it happened, once I finally got it back in place I promptly disconnected the wiring in the module and put it all back together.

Worst case scenario of course, but shit does happen. On the other hand, the roofs in my wife's Audi and BMW daily drivers have been fine.

I think the word you were grabbing for was “ejected.”

I think only Peter North can ejaculate out the moonroof.

Tough crowd... 14 years ago my paramedic instructor used to use that word to illicit a few laughs in our trauma unit...

I figured the use of that word is about as ridiculous as the thought that a window on your roof is more dangerous than the ones on the doors...
