Avalon’s are 2gr and have a wide radiator.

My apologies if I'm mistaken, but a few years back I saw a engine pulley TSB regarding the 1gr for tacoma's & avalons
& my neighbor has an 08 avalon & I thought it was a 1gr. anyway, it is a v6 with an efan.

No pulley swap for me today. Foiled by a failed fuel pump mission. F×<# the engineer at toyota that designed the fuel fittings.

The vent fitting can be fun to get off.

Wont come off. It's broken and stuck on. Ran out of time fussing with it. Solution #1 buy a new one and destroy the old one. Solution #2 destroy the old one and make something work.

Spray the whole area with high pressure nozzle. Then spray wd40 or similar to the area. Let sit for 30 mins and disconnect it.

Work smarter not harder. It will come off. If you have to force it somethings wrong.

What fuel fittings are you referring to?

This has literally been the name of the game both in the Army and my automotive career for a very long time now. I couldn't had said it better myself.

Most likely the tank vent line next to the fuel fill line you have to disconnect when you drop the tank.

The little fitting on the fuel neck disconnect. Both crashnburn and I worked at it for a few hours til our hand were banged up. No dice. The fitting is literally broken and cant release. I have to have a new one on hand or more time in the day.

Ahh... that explains why I was not familiar with. May it be my suggestion to @White lightning boosted to just lift the bed enough to be able to access and remove the pump bucket assembly instead of screwing with dropping the tank as a whole.

Can only do that with long beds.

Oh shoot, you have a short bed?

In that case follow @Roostfactor's instruction. If you must drop the tank without any other option, that is probably the best route to removing the thing you are having issues with.

Yeah, dropping the tank isnt all that tough with 2 guys. Crashnburn and I did his a few months ago, same truck. This fitting is in a tough spot. We learned a lot on his. My fitting just failed. We'll get it next weekend. Seriously toyota? Couldn't use a spring clamp like everywhere else on the truck.:jerkoff:

What are they using to hold it down? A band clamp like those stupid CV axles of ours?

That would be an upgrade. Just a two pinch point plastic fitting. Sounds simple cause it is. This one broke inside so I'll have to cut it off.

I had an issue with that same 2 pinch vent line. It took me longer to get it undone then dropping the tank completely. That one sucks; mine seemed a little messed up too but everything works fine

I found the best way is to just tap it with a screw driver. They are usually filled with dirt and sand. And as u tap the vibrations loosen up all the sand and what else is around it. And it ones of those things u have to tighten to loose. Push it together as tight as u can and then pinch both sides and pull apart. Got to be easy with them tho.

This. And a little squirt of WD40 helps too.
