If left in "D" mode it certainly does.

One way to get over the “boredom” is to use the truck for its intended purpose. Take it camping. Hit the White Rim trail. Go on a long road trip and hit the backcountry. Adventures like that will make you bond with the truck more. And frankly would be money better spent than on a new truck.

I, too, would keep your current truck.

Regardless of how well a vehicle holds it’s value, it’s still a depreciating asset. Your truck looks great, barely used...keep it and invest your money.

Pushing 15 years for any vehicle is looking dated and feeling worn/ aged imo. Stuff breaks/wears because of age not only mileage.
I came from a suckund gen and couldn't be happier.

    @TK11 If I had your truck, I’d keep it. It’s a gem!

I don't miss my 2nd gen. Was a great truck, but I missed the creature comforts of a car and my 3rd gen fits the bill.

That being said, your current truck is a unicorn.

Keep the one you have. Leather seat covers can be added to your truck, you can change out the headunit for a nice bluetooth unit and probably get one with apple carplay/android auto. The built in Nav is cool at first, but once you look at cost to keep it updated, a stand alone unit makes a lot more sense. We got our Rav4 with a moonroof and rarely ever use it, so think about how often would you use that feature.
Just last week i picked up my 2018 Sport and let go of my 2005 Dodge Dakota. It was a little bittersweet letting go of the V8, but my thinking was the Dodge was 13 years old, it couldn't have much life left in it. You have a well built Toyota with low miles, you can upgrade what you currently have. Also, with the radio upgrade, its easy to add a backup camera. In the 2018 Tacoma I recently got, the first thing I did before I left the lot was to turn off any of those TSS features I could. Keep what you have and give it a little more love.

    Workin' on it....
Sunroofs can leak, Katzkin seat covers will get you the leather you want......then mod the hell out of your 2nd gen and it'll seem like a brand new ride with some high end coilovers.

Keep your truck. So easy to add leather, and a new stereo system with navagation and Bluetooth. I have done both to my 09 as well as heated seats. A whole lot cheaper than a new one. There are so many mods you can do. Love your truck, can hardly believe the low miles, good for you

go drive a new one, if you can afford it and like you will have yourself a new truck !!(I bet they give you a decent price on a trade that's for sure) I had a1st gen trd with 98k. took a 4 banger sr for a ride and the 3rd gen cab was so much roomier I traded !I would do it again tomorrow.

You have less miles on your 2nd gen than I have on my 3rd. Why do you want to change? Is it the tech package fancies? You could get some real decent money out that truck private sale, but IMO, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Third gen owner here. Only bought a third gen because second gen trucks were priced higher.

If I could have done it all again I would have saved 20k and bought an older 80s Toyota pickup or a first gen Tacoma.

    Keep what you got

I came from a 6MT FJ and don’t regret it for a second. As others noted the power delivery is different but once you realize you need to let it rev it’s more than capable. Sooo much more refined of a driving experience than the FJ.

But you have a nice truck and no payment so that’s a tough call.

This truck has been camped in, off-roaded, etc. I trailer dirt bikes with it frequently. Love it for that purpose and it always helps feel bonded. Actually, one of the reasons for keeping it would be to mod it further - sliders, winch, maybe bigger tires, etc. Doing this to an older vehicle and then banging it up a bit would be easier to swallow than on a new one. I have a '14 JK Jeep and much prefer the Tacoma for mix of road and off-road. Modifying it more would make it closer to the JK in capability off road, then I could sell the JK...if my wife would let it go...

People still put money into 60-series Landcruisers. An 07 Tacoma is by no means an old truck. There will be parts and support available for MANY MANY years. You are on the right track. Get it modded to what you need it to do and have fun. I actually CAN'T wait till mine is 5-10 years old, so I don't feel as bad about putting scratches on it. Although, as soon as I bought mine, I took a long road trip and banged up the undercarriage pretty good on some Colorado trails. This is what they were made for.

Yes, it really goes off road. Most recent trip, Tahoe side of the Rubicon. IMG_9809.jpg

You drive an average of 14 miles per day. You need all those features for that?
