Sorry I missed out on the Trail Run today. I hope to meet you all on the next one. @P.Blackley I live in Clearfield to right between Utility Trailer and Syracuse High School.
It looks like it was a great time. Did any of you record your GPS tracks, Latitude/Longitude coordinates, or even a Google maps pin? I have a lot of weekdays off and would like to go check this area out soon. Thanks

IMO sliders are usually the best first armor as long as your wheeling style is looking for the best line vs just smashing into things. I purchased mine from rci and continued with stock skids for a year and a half and i spent a ton of time on trails, many that were more crawling than wheeling.

An air compressor will allow you to air down and it'll be a lot less bumpy. Stock tires only let you air down so much, but it will make a difference, ARB are nice, but there are other less expensive options from viair, puma and even harbor freight that'll work, just won't be as fast.

Larger tires and a lift are also before skids IMO.

Again, depends on your driving style and terrain, but I feel you'll get a better bang for your buck with sliders and tires/lift. RCI makes great stuff so you'll be happy with whatever of their products you go with.

You still liking your RCI skids? I am torn between them and Mobtown. With the group buy and lower shipping I am about ready to pull the trigger on the RCI.

Thanks for your advice. It was taken into consideration. Hopefully you can teach me how to pick lines in the near future.

So did you guys end up doing Israel Canyon? Looks like it was fun with the snow.

I was heading out to the train tunnel on Saturday night and blew my front tire out about a mile after I hit the dirt...was pretty bummed.

That's unfortunate. Which way did you come from? I don't even think the trail from the pavement to the tunnel from the southern approach is much more than that.

Anyone got a lead on where to scoop up a good deal on a 50 liter ARB fridge? Figured I'd ask the crowd before I went over the back fence to Kurt and the gang at Cruiser Outfitters.

I don't even know exactly where the train tunnel is...my friend was taking me there and I think we were going through little moab first then heading towards it. We were coming down from the south on the lake road.

On a side note...just a reminder if your truck is lifted a bit and you still have the stock jack, make sure and carry a block or a jack that will go up higher. Ended up having to use my friends hi-lift..luckily I haver sliders.

Little Moab is north of the tunnel, but there are quite a few sharpish rocks in that area. Wouldn't be hard to blow out something.

Negative. We did Mary Ellen Gulch in AF Canyon.

Would like to do Israel though, if @cwhet10 still wants to lead us at some point.

I had my Lowrance running so I should have the route mapped. I'll just need to figure out who to export it to google maps.

In regards to blowing my tire...do you guys know if all tires are generally the same thickness on the top of the tire (not tread depth)..I know the side wall is based off the tire rating (SL,C,D,E etc).

I think an LT tire has more reinforcement in the tread area as well as thicker sidewalls.

I am lead to believe this too, but could only find good supporting evidence about the sidewalls.

For what it's worth, my Cooper ST Maxxs are bulletproof so far and I love them, but the LT265/75R16s murdered my gas mileage coming from 265/70R16 Cooper RTXs.

Well I'm in CO, but basic idea is know where the damage areas or lowest spots of the truck are (usually diffs) and make sure you climb up rocks with your tires to keep them out of harm's way.

I've watched more people than I've wanted to (that didn't want spotters or guidance) just smash into rocks and throttle through stuff. I've also been there to try and reseat tires and fix whatever they end up breaking that wasn't necessary. Last time someone broke something, I crawled up a sketchy wet rock obstacle on my little 32s without any dragging, wheel spin or issues while the wrangler behind me on 33 or 35s tried to throttle through it like it was a rental. Needless to say, tire cut and wheel bent.

If you're looking for a single zone, Indel-B will be comparable if not better and is less expensive. There's a huge group buy thread on this forum as well as i think their website is truckfridge.com. typical ones people choose from are the 31, 41, 51 liter/quart models.

I had one for a while and it was great, but when i upgraded to a dual zone dometic it was well worth it! Although i scored mine for $650 and the same model is now $850.
