But something YOU have failed to take into account is that the OVTune was smog tested at some point and proven to pollute less than half as much as the stock Toyota tune. So that argument kinda falls apart right there. There's essentially no downside to the tune. It's not like the old days where some keyboard cowboy programs your vehicle to run 15:1 or so AFR and calls it good to go, this is something truly more sophisticated than the original tune. That's all I'm saying though is that this shit is worth the wait, and we shouldn't let the wait sour what is a productive relationship between business and target market...

I got 23 mpg on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but normal daily average is 17.5 - 19.5 depending on traffic, A/C, and such.

I am on full otto 91 and can verify no significant loss of MPG and an increase in performance/driveability. And agree, people buying a "performance tune" expecting to see improved mpg are delusional.

Same.. quite happy with it.. smooth and good delivery through every gear. The other day I dropped it from 6th to 3rd to pass a prius in the carpool doing 65 and I was genuinely surprised at the power that kicked in. Before the tune It's something I really had to think about doing and whether I was going to make it or not.

Same.. i'm lucky if i ever get past 16MPG. I bet most of them do a lot or half of their driving on highway miles. I'm 100% street driving during rush hour most times. The few times I get on the freeway and i'm below 80 I see the average shoot up to 18MPG.

I'll see if there's a change since i'm still on the first tank since the update.

Truth,I have never seen above 18 tank average either. Short trips and highway are subject to how I drive it,but the average is still under 16 for me and closer to 14.

yeah if you like putting power down (and i get 17 on the highway, i almost never stop putting down some power), then this motor shows you how much it likes gas. i've actually been impressed how such a small displacement NA motor can be this thirsty.

Same here, I try to keep engine rpms in the 2500-3500 range where this truck seems to perform best and responds to throttle input quicker. Any lower and it feels like this thing wont have the power/response to get out of it's own way....

ETA that RPM range is also where it seems to get the best bang for the buck in mpg on the highway.

i'm an old school open wheel and karting nut. get on the power and your rear end grips. that's where the fun is. the game is to see how early in a curve you can get on the power. the cost of my fun is an extra few bucks a month.

I tend to drive at or above the speed limit by 5mph constantly and get 20+mpg freeway with all my mods, but I designed the mods to get the best of both worlds. Tire choice is huge. Anybody wanting great mileage, but chose 285's is flat out clueless. Currently commuting 16-18mpg. The secret is getting it to speed and then letting the revs work for you and not flooring it at a light everytime. But as it has been said before, seems like every truck is different and some people bought this truck hoping it would perform like a Prius...?
