Still playing with this 1g1GR-FE I got that the heads were milled. The rear of the heads were slightly milled more than the front???? supposedly, milled. .03, timing is retarded about 1/16, but why would they be milled more on the rear going to less on the front? Timing being off 1/16, makes sense, but why mill more on the rear? can't find OEM measurement specs on heads to figure out how much was milled? I have a friend at a machine shop that can take measurements, but no OEM specs to compare to.

Is this what you had in mind? I took a look in the FSM and this is what it says:

    "INSPECT CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
    (a) Inspect the cylinder head for warpage.
    (1) Using a precision straight edge and feeler
gauge, measure the warpage on the cylinder
block side and the intake and exhaust sides.
    Maximum warpage:
    0.10 mm (0.0039 in.)
If the warpage is greater than the maximum,
    replace the cylinder head."

    Shitty milling job:notsure:

Now you gotta toss them. You'll never get them straight again if they are in fact slanted

Thanks bro, but have this one, looking for thickness measurements to figure out exactly how much they shaved off of the surface.

your probably right, but It's a project :) best case, put together an extra engine. Worst case... wasted some time doing what I like to do... Work on Tacoma's :)
