I'm having that same issue. I sold my swingout for the lack of practicality and actually using my truck to haul stuff. For now my tire is upright against the cab but I'm thinking of something like this. upload_2018-11-5_13-34-32.jpg

you have a bed rack too right? I think with the angle of the bedrack a tire standing like that (at least my 35) would hit the side of the rack and not be able to go like that.

I haven't taken the 30 seconds to go stand it up and see lol

technically you didn't, you just typed it...lol.

I just don't want my truck any longer than it is, if I did I would've got a long bed.

if I had to guess the implication is that they don't need to lower their tailgate very often, which means they don't use there bed so it's just for looks?

Do they look sweet? Yes. Are they functional? No.

I got that too, but I haul plenty of shit in my truck and have never had to leave the tail gate down, because I have a 6ft bed. I know people get annoyed with the extra step of opening it, but that's personal preference.

Especially with 35s, you're not going to be able to see out the back. Right now i have the tiring hanging from the rack, I use the re-cycled hanger to get it up and down, then a ratchet strap to secure it. Getting gear in and out is easy, and I lower the tire onto a tool box to slide it out.

Eventually I'll build a vertical carrier for the tail gate, but that's a longer term project.

How are they not functional? Function is to hold a spare tire. It does that. There and give and takes with anything.

That's a fair point. But the majority of us have the chode bed which will haul next to nothing

Man I really don't want to lose sight out of the back...I use my mirrors all the time, almost as much as I am looking forward.
