This can't be said often enough, tire size kills the gearing if you go crazy. That is why I only went one size up from stock to 265/75/16's. I wanted a taller tire but not at the cost of mpg and needing a taller lift that also affects mpg and involves cutting and control arms. The downside to my tire choice is the added weight of of the e ply,but for my use the e ply was mandatory.

right on. and get as tight as you can. about once every two years i miss it. the cost of that happening recently broke my front end and i was without my truck for 6 weeks as a result. 4 shops, 7 or 8 alignments, and about $3000 in diagnostic fees to find where it broke. so i guess the cost for me is more than a few bucks a month.

You see this blows my mind, the truck is screaming at 2500rpm and above, it's annoying as hell and jerky when lifting off... yes you get response but my god the annoyance, especially if you have someone in the truck.

I agree. And I don’t think there’s any way mileage is maximized in that rpm range.

Yeah I think it’s to include his new pricing on bricks, his strict work hours, and what your not entitled to. Honestly I’m kind of worried but we’ll see what happens.

I don’t blame him in the least cause it always upsets me too. I just appreciate what he does for the community.

<<<M/T vs A/T that and my exhaust has a horrible drone at low midrange under light load. Keeping it in higher rpms lessens the sound in my case. My insant eco says I am getting better mpg's as well in 4th,5th and 6th in that rpm range

ETA Also as mentioned,it appears every single truck seems to be a bit different, add in mods and everything you think would be "normal" goes right out the window...

That's what the new people didn't get compared to the early adopters. Mat can yank the cord whenever he wants. He can hand us a product that is significantly better than stock today, or an amazing product 'soon'. That's why people kept asking everyone to chill out. But it's too late now.

this thread went from :goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy: to :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: real quick

People need to just be patient and let Matt do the job that he's been doing phenomenally well considering the issues he's had to deal with along the way from the impatient people to the Toyota surprises and headaches. I feel like if they ran 1.03 they would explode that its not good enough for them lol

the MT dongle crew has been very happy with 1.05, the AT guys will get to join the party before too much longer

Same. Each tune I've run has been an iterative improvement from the last one and its progressively gotten better. After 1.04 I didnt know how Matt could make this any better, but I can say now that he has managed to do it and made this truck what we've wanted since day 1.

I'm pretty happy with 1.04 as well. Sure there's room for improvement, but I now enjoy driving my truck. Used to be when me and the Mrs went out, I'd always want to take her 4runner. Now we almost always take mine.

Screaming at 2500? M/T with stock tires and gears runs about 2400 at 75 mph on the interstate, so maybe i'm just used to it, but I wouldn't says it's screaming. I've always wanted to keep my rpm above 2k, which is part of why most A/T annoy me, they shift too soon in my opinion. Pulling a trailer up a mountain in excess of 4000 rpm, now that's screaming.

not for this engine. Its a Lexus engine, it likes revs. Mat has said this is just the way this engine is. Gearing is tall though, I will agree on that

agreed. I was in Colorado going up some of the passes and heard someone coming up on me - it was a fellow tacoma screaming up the pass at 4000+ RPM while I was cruising along at 2500-3000 in the MT. I much prefer the gears in the manual after having both.
