I remember as a kid being told "the night stalker"was hiding out in the orchards in Ojai where I grew up by people trying to scare us. That was scary.

 

I remember the OJ "chase". 35 mph thru LA.

 

It was believed that possibly Dahmer killed Adam, which was the guy who started "America's most wanted" kid.

We had a looooooong concrete staircase at the end of our cul de sac growing up that led down to the bottom of the hill we lived on, it was for city workers to access the wash that was down there. Was probably equivalent of 12 stories of steps, it was steep and long and there was a bunch of trees and water at the bottom that went on for a few miles. As kids, there was a rumor that a group of cannibal children lived down there with their cannibal adult leader so we would always dare one another to go down. One kid bit himself on the arm hard enough to bleed and came running up to show us that he was attacked, from then on I wholeheartedly believed there were cannibals down there until I was probably 13 or so, lol. Good times.

 

We used to walk through the giant sewer tunnels at the edge of town. That was a dumb idea. It was completely pitch black for most of the tunnel and we never had a flash light. Things could have gone bad many times. I miss growing up in the 80's.

 

We used to climb into the old wwII bunkers. Nothing but pitch black.
Been in the missile launch pads down the elevator shaft and a place called the "shit pit"
Literally a man hole cover go down the ladder about 40 ft and it was a bathroom with like 6 to 10 toilets (cant remember exact number).
This was out at whites point. We were always looking for the tunnel that runs from downtown to the harbor.
