I'm only seeing these from Wilco for 2nd gen and newer (2005+). Did you get one of those and make it work for your 1st gen or did they make them for 1st gen at one time?

    Looks amazing :hattip:

I've been searching for this style on a 1st gen for a couple of days now. Do you know if anyone makes one anymore?

    Spare tire carrier?
Yes, Wilco still makes it for the 1st gen.
It swings out from left to right. It's also reversible so the tire slants the other direction.

Left in stock location as I dont want to lose bed space, mpg on roof, or have to open a rack before a tailgate. Cut & arc welded 1/2" c-channel to all 4 arms of stock rack and was able to fit a p26575r16/ (32×11ish?) Still have full departure angle, enough clearance all around. Think I'll wrap or heat shield exhaust tho so heat doesnt affect tire. Even stock length was close.

OME, SPC UCA, ARB w/warn 10K winch, TG Rock Defense Rear, Marlin Clutch, Custom hi clearance under bed spare mount. 285/75/16. A ton of repairs done and a list up to come modifications.

I travel with 2 spares. I go to some prety remote areas. I did not want to loose all of my bed space for spares but I needed the ground clearance. So this is what I am working on.
The factory crank is on the right angled for acess. I connected it to a pulley that drops to the tire. If it works on the trail I will take it apart and use one full length cable(wire roap) or have it properly spliced.
I was boxing the frame anyway. So I cut out the rear cross and made a new one that sits just under the bed. (Extending to the sides for future mods) while I had the bed off I removed and sealed any rust. I cut open the rear bed support to fix some rust underneath. I used 4 sticks of thick angle and one perforated angle to remake part of that section stronger and shorter.

Soon I will be upgrading to 33 (285/75/16)
I think the new spare will still fit. If not then I will convert this space to drop storage or a second fuel tank.

In the second picture the spare is there you can barely tell.
