I'm referring more to storing it wet during the day's travel. We'll get rained on Thursday night, then pack tent and travel to our Friday night destination. Essentially the tent will be stored all day, wet, then re-deployed the following night.

I'm thinking worst case scenario, I could pull the rain fly off the tent completely before I store it, that way the wettest part of the assembly isn't compressed during storage. Then re-install the rain fly when the tent is re-opened.

Thoughts? I'm sure some of you guys have done multi-day trips in wet weather, traveling between locations? Just trying to get a feel for experiences.

Ive been meaning to build an outboard mount.. but also for the time being, my Roofnest has its own roof rack that I can attach things to (future kayak mount)

Picture from unboxing. I haven't actually put anything up there yet.

I think I'm going to attempt to fit the bike under the rack with a fork mount on the front rail. should be simple. your bike is going to be so freaking high in the air lol

Wonder if any company will be making a smaller hardshell RTT that will fit just over the bed of a shortbed. I like the way my Ayer fits over my bed right now and how it sits below the roofline. All the hardshells I see now would have to sit above the roof.

Wouldn't that be the essence of the hardtop tent? It would have to have a minimum length to fit an adult on the mattress.

if it fits over the bed then it's only 5 feet long...not many adults can fit in that...

You can still have it open and fold out like the ikamper. https://www.ikamper.com/pages/skycamp just cut it down to the 5ft bed length if that makes any sense. That's just a thought.

    What about a AT Habitat?

Only downside.. no windows or venting. You could cut a hole in the bottom, so you can breathe

It will have to be behind your tent rack, good bye tail gate. Otherwise the bottom of the rack will be a substantially higher than your cab. If I remember correctly is 18" from bed floor to bed rails and about 14 from bed rails to the highest point on the cab. I went through a bunch of permutations on this design, and it has to be a tire gate that gets the bottom of the tire behind and below the bed floor.

Something like this raptor build: https://www.raptorforumz.com/threads/dereks-sdhq-build-part-one.20000/#post-258171

my rack is a bit taller than my cab, so I THINK I have space to stand the tire up under it, but we will see....still at work or I'd check now...

My rack is 17" from the bed sides and it comes to just below the 3rd brake light

Maybe? Getting rack height down was critical for me (garage doors and center of gravity). So it wasn't even close.
