I would also question if you ever needed the update in the first place if you can't tell a difference.

Apparently it only affects some 2016's. Found out mine is not part of the TSB or recall for this or any flash. Luckily I haven't had any problems with the shifting or any hesitation of the transmission since having this truck so I won't pursue this update..

I don't see how yours isnt listed for the tsb since your truck is a 16 and this update came out a couple of months ago. Pretty sure your dealer fibbed unless you have had it updated at another recent service.

If you have a v6 and an automatic, this update almost certainly appies to you. Or the 58 one anyways. Actually for a 16 there are probably about 7 tsbs that apply to your truck.

Mine is a 17 and it applied.

Just had the tsb done to my truck i’ve Had this problem since I bought the truck new from Toyota. Over the last two years they’ve done a few tsb updates. I’ve disconnected the battery posts to clean them because of acid build up does that erase the updates from the ecu. Also because of the stutter I almost got into an accident because it stutter and back fired before taking off

He must live on flat roads even on the ramp to merge and not put your foot down through the floor. If I had a 2016, that an automatic get the TSB done.

No is does not lose the ecu updates. Only thing it may lose is what it learned in that period. Even that is questionable.

Seems like a small risk for something that takes less time than an oil change.

Thanks for the information JaCado, I thought it would retain the updates but just wanted to be certain

So after all of 5 days with the new flash, I am back to using ECT. I can definitely tell that there is a difference but not enough of one to perform the way I want it to.

Any thoughts on Shift Sense vs Pedal Commander?

What about these aftermarket tuner devices would they work to fix the stumble on acceleration problems and surge problems?

Are you talking about the ecu flash? Orange virus tuning?

Idk, I’ve seen these tuner modules didn’t know if it was work buying, they are use to change throttle settings, torque and other things, but didn’t know if they would work and if it would void factory warranty?

Pedal commander, shift sense pro, OVTune. Do yourself a favor and search those terms here and draw your own conclusions. I personally have none and no experience with any of them, but OVTune is the only one that appeals to me.

There’s only one true tuner. Orange Virus. It changes the maps inside the ecu and actually fixes problems. Nothing bolt on. No plug ins to keep on your truck. Hook your computer up to the truck computer, flash the ecu, then drive away!

There’s things to make you think the problems are fixed. Shift sense is one, it basically shifts for you in S mode. Then there’s pedal commander. It just makes the pedal more sensitive to make you think you have more power.

I’ve been running orange virus for over a year and never looked into fake alternatives.

And in the upcoming 1.05 update, the etc button will function as a shift lock button in S mode .

Alledgedly Toyota can't tell it's there. Not that I doubt that, but there certainly is a "user beware" element to tuning.

IF Toyota can tell and IF you have it with a motor problem, absolutely Toyota will void your warranty.

Neither of those things appear to be an issue so far though.
