How to lift a TRD PRO (a bit) w/ stock suspension

been getting a few messages lately so i’m assuming there still isn’t much or any info out there on a cost effective way to get a little more height on a PRO without gutting the stock fox shocks so here’s my 2 cents...

i purchased the revtek 427AP kit earlier this year. this kit is a 1.5 front spacer and AAL to give you 1.5 in the rear. after talking to revtek they said on a PRO this is the highest you can go up front without risking or replacing stock components but still getting the max performance a PRO can get.

my review:

i’m was definitely surprised after reading all the haters on here who down play spacers but i’m glad i ignored them because i literally couldn’t tell the difference in ride quality up front after getting the spacers installed. I will say the only difference i feel is on the rear but only when going on speed bumps it’s a bit stiffer than the stock rear. not bad at all though so i wouldn’t worry about it.

the performance of the truck is GREAT after the kit and the looks are even better! i’ve taking her to moab, hidden falls, denver CO, and just got back from big bend national park last weekend. Nothing has been broken or got missed up or even sounds weird compared to doing some trials when it was stock so if you’re worried about this kit hindering a PROs performance, DONT! because it doesn’t at all.

all in all this is the best couple of hundred bucks i spent on the taco considering i wanted it a little higher than stock but didn’t want to spend thousands on thousands replacing the suspension with what i’d assume to be equal or better in regards to kings or icon just to get that extra inch and a half i’d probably get with one of those systems.

I am in no way trying to trash talk spacer lifts, in fact I have recommended them to friends who do not do much wheeling. However, to me, the biggest concern with lifts like this would be extra stress on the strut itself, especially by the lower mounts. I have seen failures of stock OR struts at the lower mount on trucks with spacer lifts, when the owner does serious wheeling (usually high speed). Now I'm sure the fox struts are stronger thank the bilstiens that come on an OR, and I am sure you can mob hard enough to cause a strut to fail the same way without a spacer lift, but I still feel that people should know about this before choosing to put one in their truck. 99% of the time there will be no issues, but I would not personally do a spacer lift purely because there is stress added to the strut in a way that it was not engineered to handle, and I would much rather be safe than sorry when it comes to suspension parts.

 

A top plate spacer from low range Offroad would have been way better and healthier for your truck in the long run. And they are under $100

I know that the spacer lift is not ideal for those who wheel, but for me I don't get to do a lot of wheeling due to working strange schedules and having a family to balance in the time off. Therefore it was fine to do one for me.

This is what I want to do to my TRD pro as well. Where did you purchase yours? The 427P is just the block spacer and not the additional leaf. Why would the leaf be beneficial over the block spacer Thanks

 

I got mine a 4 wheel parts. I am no professional on it but I think that a leaf over a block gives you the ability to have more weight either in the bed or towing. I am not sure that as far as ride goes they are any different because block or leave you are stiffening the suspension. I think once I am at a point down the road where I need to replace the fox suspension ill do a AAL at that time but for now I don't tow anything nor do I put much in my bed that is heavy.

 

i did the AAL because i wanted more overall height all around not just in the front, and i got it from 4wheeelparts too

Are the TRD Pro Fox's Mid Travel? Cause if they are you will probably over droop your A-Arms and bind your CV's with a top spacer.

Ok then OP should be fine. I tried a 1/4" spacer on my 6112's and the CV's were bound up AF.
