I'm a smoker and I try to be courteous and not smoke around non-smokers, building entrances, children and the like. I know it's a nasty habit, but hoping to impose a law about smoking in one's personal vehicle is ridiculously entitled. If you don't like it, roll up your window.

I like how the article cited says the company is trying to help their employees quit smoking using incentives rather than infractions, policies, or reprimands (as you are suggesting). Seems kind of hypocritical to be in favor of their policy, but hoping to enforce more policies to punish smokers that smoke in their vehicles because it bothers you.

Are you also offended by homeless people that can't bathe regularly and smell like piss? Are you hoping someone enacts laws against public flatulence?

How do feel about people vaping at stop lights?

 

Does second hand smoke cause cancer in non smokers? If you want to kill yourself, put the gun to your own head, not mine.

The exhaust from the other vehicles at said stop light is probably much worse than what little second hand smoke might reach inside another vehicle.

 

Rules are part of a civil society. Plenty of examples that don't seem to make any sense.

 

Abilene Tx had a vote on this same issue. Passed unanimously to ban smoking in restaurants etc. Then the smokers got butthurt and tried to bring up a petition to reverse the law after the vote passed. They had write in signatures from Elvis, Lincoln, Kennedy etc...basically waste of time vote still stands as far as I know. BUT I for one was glad they banned smoking in restaurants.

I dont go up to someone the day after eating a pot of chili and just fart in their face at a table in the restaurant so why should I have to smell some nasty cigarette smoke while Im eating! Sometimes common courtesy is not so common!

 

I waited tables in college. Shifts in the smoking section were always coveted. Smokers drank more, had bigger bills, and always tipped better. Plus there were fewer kids in the smoking section, so cleaning up spills, cracker crumb messes and high chairs was less frequent.

I've kissed a smoker before. It wasn't that bad but it also wasn't after she just lit up.

 

Funny how smokers will get all butt hurt if my dog shits on their lawn, but it's OK for them to shit in my air.

I have to smell my neighbor smoking that sh** weed and cigarettes. Damn stench goes right into my window. I keep hoping they will drop one on the unkept yard and burn their house down.
Them and the other neighbor that doesnt clean up the dog sh** in their yard all summer.
