hell no, not with this axle.

Discovered some problems that I am going to take care of. The axle housing was cracked at the traction bar, the traction bar was binding, and the 63's are due for a rebuild.

 

Sounds like fun.

 

Busy end of the week last week. Built a rack and it was too short to use for how the guy wanted. Had to build a new rack from start to finish bending the bed rail plates to bending the tube and mocking/ welding it up Thursday.

Then welded a set of 3rd gen t4r sliders up. Friday did a cab mount chop rack install to tie into the roof mounts. Install the sliders on the t4r.

Saturday was a trip to hardrock. Big thanks to @allenfab foe the ride.

Sunday was a 63 swap on a 1st gen tacoma. Owner brought everything over for the swap.

 

Did you tie the bed rack into the roof mounts on the cab?

 

Yes. To give support to the front part. He wanted a offroad look but to use it for work also carrying his ladders and supplies

 

Are you not worried about the rack doing damage to the roof due to bed flexing

 

Not a whole lot. That long of a over hang it will still have a little flex. Plus it’s for a work truck.

 

Hey guys I plan on change my diff fluid any recommendations on front and rear diff oil, and do I need the LSD additive for the TRD offroad?

 

You don't need the additive, but good luck finding gear oil that doesn't have it, at least that doesn't cost 3 times as much, haha. You can't even find straight 90 weight these days in a reasonably priced brand. No suggestions from me though. I'm about to change mine and put the cheapest crap I can find in it...mainly because I'm hoping it won't be in there long. After that my regear break in, I'll put better stuff in, but I can't see paying the premium for Amsoil or Royal Purple or the like. I'll probably just go with the best synthetic stuff I can find in a gallon jug. I wasn't paying close enough attention the other day when I bought the cheap oil and ended up paying more for two quart bottles than I paid for the gallon jug of the stuff for my rear diff.

 

No additive. I just use supertech 75w90.... It's at Wally world

 

Thanks for the input Ill price it out and decide I was going to go with amsoil or mobil one. I look on Amazon also.

75w-90 GL-4). My Rear diff calls for 80w-90 GL-5.

75w90 was the weight I saw on tw lol I may change it out eventually anyways if I regear

 

Careful you don't get hit with a hazmat fee ordering it online. Most of the parts stores won't ship oil and stuff directly to you because of that.

 

Maybe 2nd gens are different. I'm going by what the owner's manual says.

Buy it by the gallon (it's a lot cheaper by the gallon) and make yourself one of these...



Your life will be much simpler, although that filler isn't cheap to make either.
