I disconnected both battery terminals for about 30 minutes and when I put them back on and tried to start it up, I got nothing. The lights will come on but the starter doesn't click...nothing. What could be going on?

make sure they are making a good contact, also make sure postive is on the postive side and negative is on the negative side. if that doesnt work then it could be dead.

It's high current so only tight connection can get across the gap. If it's loose you may still have 12 volts but it just can't get enough current to start. Loose you get what you got there. Clicking tight but not enough.

There is a whole bunch of things that could be wrong though. Start with simple and work your way up.

It will jump start off my wifes car but it seems as though the battery is dead. It makes no sense b/c it was working fine today and then I unhook it, hook it back up, and now it's dead.

That doesn't make any sense. Are the terminals clean of an corrosion? Take the battery to autozone or advanced auto in the morning and have it checked.

Agreed. That doesn't mean that's the problem here, but like others said above: Start with the simplest/likeliest. Stock batteries are designed to last about 36 months. Some get way more use out of them, but any stock battery over 36 months old is on borrowed time. Take it in and have it load tested somewhere. Then you will either have a diagnosis, or can rule the battery out as the culprit.

Took it in and it was the battery...dead. Just seems weird that it went dead when I disconnected it. It was tempting to get the $180 Optima Red Top with 36 month warranty but I cheaped out and went with a direct replacement for $90 and 24 month warranty.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Take the whole truck to autozone and have the alternator checked as well. A dead or dying battery makes the alt work harder.
