There are so many scenarios that a locker and just Atrac alone would save your ass when you really need it in an emergency situation etc. I would call that far superior in my book.

It's really a personal preference. Both are awesome trucks, but for me I wanted a manual transmission and six foot bed with a V6.

I just do not believe that. I was watching a youtube video the other day, tacoma vs Colorado zr2 (which has both front and rear lockers). There was a section of trail where it was basically a mud filled pool. Both the tacoma and colorado got stuck and had to be pulled out by a raptor. Didnt matter that the zr2 had the additional locker, it still got stuck the same as the OR.

Now are these driver aids helpful? Absolutely. I love safety sense on my 18! Does that mean my truck is "far superior" on the freeway where 98% of most tacoma users drive? Based on your logic I guess it does, go me!

The locker is far more useful on rocks than in mud.

I believe that is BBP. It seems to look different (usually darker) in pictures for some reason.

Yeah you're getting it! But sad that it is only when it benefits your model. You're exactly right my man having TSS does in fact make your safety on a highway far superior. Mine does not have TSS and if I were to be bonehead and not pay attention that TSS COULD save my families life. That's far superior in a safety sense. Bingo! Comparing a stock MT sport to a ZR2 is laughable though for offroading prowess.

Because some people use their trucks for other things than offroading. For instance, if it's a daily driver, I can't imagine anyone choosing the off-road suspension for that. Again, everyone has different needs.

Sport can be cheaper if you negotiate hard. Not so much negotiating room on offroads.

Figure with the the $2k I saved, I’d get a much superior ARB air locker if I needed it.

If it’s your real concern you need a winch. Just my .02c

It really is all subjective, I found the opposite to be true where they wanted more for the sport then OR

I am planning to tow a 2600-lb dry weight camper (with sway bar and auxiliary brake). Is the OR far superior for that type of towing?

I am not planning on real offroading. Would I get annoyed with the soft supsension of the OR? I've also read it is smoother on bad roads, which we have plenty of here. (Though either would probably be far better than my recent vehicles--Z4, MX5 and WRX.)

I like the looks and overall vibe of the OR but I have a hard time finding a MT or the colors I like in the OR. OTOH, there's a Cavalry Blue MT Sport just sitting on the lot waiting for me to pick it up...test drove it recently...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the MT sport have the same 8.75" rear end just without the locker? So they would tow roughly the same with the tow package. Get the more capable truck off the lot if you're not planning to mod/upgrade it. You're already are leaning towards the OR vs the sport and that's smart. It's cliche, but having the capability and not needing it is better than not having it when you need it.

Yup. Same rear on the MTs. The only thing to battle is sag depending on tongue load. A weight equalization hitch is always a good idea, but probably not needed for trailer that light.

I’m allowed to be wrong, but I’m 99.9% sure the Sport has hill assist. The Off Road does not.

I would say they're almost identical for towing purposes, if anything I'd give the advantage to the sport for the stiffer suspension, wont sag as much under an load is the idea.

But either way you're way under the max towing limit so you're fine either way!
