I think most people’s list is about the same.

This truck is a keeper for me, though, so I’ll just go ahead and do what I need to to make it work as I want it to. Luckily, there's no shortage of people making solutions and mods for the Taco that keep making it better, like OVtune. That is a resource that I never had for my Ranger.

The springs in the taco have always been really soft in the rear. It’s annoying

I had Dakars. They were good but I went to Chevy 63’s and they make the Dakars feel like the stock taco springs.

Looking on his website there are a few different options...is the "Tacoma 3.5L ECU / TCU Handheld Tuner" package the one we want that includes everything we need to do this?

I keep going back and forth on swapping out my suspension but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I need to do something though before too much longer.

Suspension will be next on my list, but I've been rocking the stock OR suspension for 36k and it's done fine but I do want to upgrade. At the point I'll probably roll with the current Bils until 60k and then replace with 5100s or a take-off Pro set. My next mod will probably be firestone bags + daystar cradles though to keep from sagging when I'm loaded down.

Or buy a 2020 Pro when they come with factory turbos

I’ve also been pondering running as is and trading off on the mid cycle update. I’d also like entune 3 with CarPlay.

I’ve already got 70k miles on my 2017 so by the time the 2020 would land I’ll probably be around 150k or so.

It looks like somebody photoshopped your rear suspension out of that picture.

Ahhh this makes me sick! I love revving it all the way out in the 6MT (I came from many BMW's). Can you pleaseeeeeee do this!? I would pay extra.

Also, any updates on the 04B11 1.05? I'm trying to be patient and not go get the TSB or use hacked TS.

@OVTune I would actually appreciate/use the higher redline!! 2nd gear gets used for passing and tops at 60... a tad more would be nice.

I think that really depends on exactly what you're trying to do with the tune. Here's how I understand it:

The hand held package includes everything you need to install the tune, the only "shortfall" is that you can't log and get custom tunes unless you buy the separate logger. The tuning package that costs the same as the hand held kit allows you to do logging and custom tuning, but you need your own computer to install the tune. So,

Hand held package- everything you need to tune, portable for flexibility if you need to flash away from home, but no custom tuning unless you buy another accessory
Tuning package- everything you need to tune(edit: everything you need to tune except a computer), can custom tune, but need a computer to do so, so it's not likely to be quite as small and portable as the hand held

Personally, I bought the tuning package the day before they announced the handhelds, and was not able to switch my order to the hand helds because they sold out. I had planned on getting a "junk" laptop to be my version of the handheld, but I haven't found anything in the same price range that I trust to be reliable, so I'm going to end up getting the hand held at an additional cost for portability and reliability.

What you're seeing is as far as I got, so maybe 30' out of my driveway lol. Just parked it and detached.

I think I got it but why would I need custom tuning? I'm assuming thats for the advanced users who understand how to tune and what not..not somebody who is just looking to load the flash on and call it good.

I have seen it first hand and was able to crawl under it to see the suspension. I can attest that his Taco is the real deal. I guarantee his can go places that would make my truck weep like a schoolgirl.

Most of the people that need it are the ones that are heavily modified or want something very specific in terms of shift points or throttle respond.

Pretty much what he said. In my opinion, if you're not interested in custom tuning just go with the hand held, and if you ever change your mind down the road you can get the logger.
