Hello all. My name is Ray, and I just got my new '18 Taco SR5. My first new vehicle, and if all goes well, it'll be the last one for a while. I tend to keep vehicles for a very long time, as I still have my '92 Cherokee, and I've been daily-driving our '04 Outback, since my wife got her '16 Legacy. I've had a collection of Jeeps through the years, but we've always had a need for a truck. So, I finally bit the bullet. I've looked around, especially at mid-size trucks, and aside from the newer mid-size GM twins, there's not much on offer. GM's quality lately is not a good feeling, and I've heard the tales, first hand, of Nissan trucks, both mid and large size, having problems with their rear diffs. I haven't heard of any horror stories about Toyotas, other than frame-rust issues, which have hopefully been addressed. Hopefully, I'll be able to view this forum from time to time, looking at tips, tricks, and mods, and not be on here looking for solutions to problems. I've only had the opportunity to drive it a few times, and so far, I like it! We'll see!

Thanks for all the warm greetings. One of the things I'm familiar with, after two decades of wrenching on Jeeps, mostly Cherokees, is the forums and advice websites. With the Jeeps, maybe too familiar. But, one of the things I miss, not having seen it in a few years, is a website called FrankenTaco. A young fellow cruising around the country, in his little Toyota pickup, looking for the most backwoods engineering he could find. His truck was very conservative, not at all crazy, but the stuff he'd find and post was amazing. The amount of lumber, wrought iron, re-bar and zip-ties that people would lift their Jeeps and trucks with was just amazing. And the witty style in which he described the carnage was hilarious.
Just wondering if anyone's heard of it, or seen it lately.
