I hope they have cooled/ventilated seats. I'm not optimistic, but a boy can hope.

They can't even add power seats or rear disc brakes at this point. The current Tacoma is a business lesson in how much Toyota can cut features and quality and it worked.

Shit the Ridgeline/Ranger already has for $500 Alex

Agree! The market is definitely shifting, hell my own priorities have changed a lot since I was in HS and only cared about HP and boobs  (I mean I still care about the latter). That being said i want all the creature comforts, Wayze nav, Amazon Alexa integration, PTS, accent lights, power seats, dual zone CC, etc. Obviously some of these features are not on my tacoma and it is disappointing to me. Why did I choose to buy a tacoma over a canyon? Well, I like the look better. I'm still relatively young so this does still factor in my decision, but I've noticed that as you get older and priorities change -enter ridgeline.

I dont think the Tacoma is advertised for the older generation... my grandpa couldn't even get into my truck without struggling (he owns an F150). I'd like to see more features come in to play, but I'd hate for it to lose its truckiness. That being said I think theres a lot of room here without risking reputation.

I dont know what my point is.. I guess I'm disappointed that mine doesn't have all these features but at the end of the day I still bought one

The lesson they will learn is missing these luxury features is ok on the entry level trim, but once you are charging for the Limited and TRD trims, it is expected.

They got away with it because they had their own fan base, and limited market competition, but that is changing.

Large multinational corporations make strategic blunders regularly. The automobile industry is certainly no exception.

Going from a 1999 to a 2015 then to a 2018 each time was like going from a Cessna to a Lear Jet in terms of upgraded add on tech like the engine and the TSS on my 18. I would suspect that by the time a 4th gen comes out it will be pretty much autonomous in almost every way. Shit the Kia I just rented in Atlanta damn near drove itself. Oh and yes the 4th will def have another cupholder because one dude ran out of them one time.

I would 1000% buy a spruce mica TRD Pro if they produce that combination. Both have grown on me over the years and the spruce is as good as black.

Yeah but it's not like Toyota just started this.
Some of you guys just need to be resigned to the fact that the Tacoma is a Tacoma. No power seat, no rear discs, no cooled seats, no headroom, hard to see out of, no grab handle and it shifts a lot.
That is a Tacoma. If you want something different then buy something different, it's that simple.
My dad used to tell me when I was a boy that "I could wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one gets full first." He was right.

Are you really in the market to buy one, or trying to sell one?

If not then you are being obnoxious as the only reason you would ask that is to feel smart or useful. If that's the case, just stop, it's a waste of everyones time and unwelcome.

If you are needing help selling one you own, I would be happy to help you gather any info that helps you get top dollar.

This is the best I care to do. Far from perfect, and only represents a tiny amount of the total classic vehicle sales.

IMO, Toyota has been "Apple" for all these years. They had a reputable truck, a loyal fanbase and over time, they knew that whatever they put out, the loyal market would still buy it whether its a perfect product or not. And competition in the mid truck market has been virtually non-existent till now.

But come 2019/20, the midsize Truck market will change with the new Ranger, Jeep Truck and both the Colorado and Nissan Frontier may be in for a new haul/look in 2020. The newcomers offer everything better over the current Taco (more horsepower, better drivetrain, more convenience features, etc).

IMO, the Ranger will definitely pull some sales away from Taco next year (In NZ/Aussie, Ford has already beaten Toyota in sales). My neighbor just traded his 2nd gen Taco for the new Colorado ZR1 and he loves it (I still prefer 3rd gen taco).

Point being if Toyota continues to sit on their butt, provide minimal changes on their best selling truck, they might be in for a surprise come 2020.

Honestly one of the reasons I am still hesitating on buying one is it's hard to see the value with a very outdated EnTune, lack of some of the market's basic creature comforts and the "maybe" shifting issues. Yes, the truck will be bulletproof mechanically, but Im one of those people that takes excellent care of my vehicles and I feel the dependability gap has closed to be very close. I do think Toyota has been resting on their laurels - now, Im sure their profit margins are outstanding because they certainly aren't spending on R&D and other areas that their competition spends on so Toyota is smart in that respect. With all that being said, if the EnTune was good/competitive with UCONNECT it would be an easier decision for me.

Im taking another extended test drive today into tonight FYI.

I'm not a Toyota fan boy that gets upset at anyone who dares question your decision to buy a Tacoma and screams "well go by a Ford then".

But in your case, you hit on the very real weaknesses of the third gen Tacoma. That is not going to change with an extended test drive at this point I think you have all the information you need.

That being said, I think the quality gap has actually opened. Ford, GM, Dodge put a lot of technology into their trucks because the market is so competitive, but it's not always well thought out or well sustained.

Their dealership network is a joke and service is just god-awful.

If anything the demand to move away from premium SUVs into premium pickup trucks has hidden just how poorly made these vehicles are.

Yeah cause when people second guessed stuff like... Oh New Coke, the Zune, The Delorean, Windows Vista... the list goes on and on... they were obviously wrong cause large multinational corporations clearly know everything! ;)
