What is that actual part called? I just picked up a 2017 that was totaled at auction and need to replace the grill and the painted part around the grill. Trying to order it online.

Mine is being covered under warranty, but it's taking a long time for the replacement grill to come in. Something tells me there's a bigger problem here than the dealer is admitting to.

I read through the threads that I posted earlier, the consensus seems to be that intense sunlight reflected off of glass is the culprit. Toyota used shitty low-temperature plastic. Park wisely. I may have to sell mine before it gets worse. :frusty:

One person on the other threads I posted has gone through 3 grille surrounds because of the defective plastic. Fuck that. It's bad enough that matching metallic paint properly is a gamble.

Sucks. But still lol. Should all be covered under warranty and its hardly noticeable.

Just wanted to add my input, which may help or may not. But at least it's out there.

I remember somebody here having an issue like that almost 2 years ago. Turns out where he parked his truck, the sun was reflecting off of a window of a house or something similar which focused light onto the plastic, heating it up which then caused it to warp.

    Just my two cents.

Yeah thats way worse than mine. I think what I'm getting at is selling the truck instead of just making sure you get a non-defective piece of plastic isn't exactly rational. But hey, to each their own right.
