So I got an Alpine INA-W900BT with Alpine Type-S speakers in all 4 doors. I got a scosche dash kit. I gotta say.....I F#%KING love this thing!! Its well worth every penny, any of you guys are thinking of buying a doubledin headunit buy this! Its alittle pricey but you wont regret it, its very user friendly, the buttons are big so its easy to control it while on the road.
It has NAVTEQ navigation and i have tested it out and it works awesome! Very very accurate and very easy to use, and unlike other GPS units, you can just type in the name of a place instead of looking through categories and trying to find the name. I have no complaints with this Headunit, it is not bypassed so i have to engage the e-brake to watch movies from a dvd or ipod, im not gonna bypass it cause I dont want to wreck my truck cause I was more focused on watching a movie instead of paying attention to the road.
The ipod controls are a no brainer, thats all i can say.

I also Want to thank Jake AKA Panda Jerk for helping me in choosing the right headunit! Thanks bro

If anyone has any questions on this or want more pics please tell me

The photos are out of order but they are self explanatory

    enjoy!

Can you control the color of the backlit buttons ? I like how the Pioneer units let you customize the color to better match the factory dash lights.

    Thanks !

Have another question, can the SD Card reader be used for anything other than software / nav map updates ? I downloaded the user manual and it only mentions using it for updates, nothing about using a SD Card to store music / video files. Have you tried this yet ?

    Thanks

Yeah, if I go with this unit I'd be using my ipod too, but it'd be nice to load up a SD card with all the music my wife listens to and just leave it in there. She doesn't mind me spending cash on toys if she "perceives" that it will make her life easier. Hooking up the ipod isn't something she'd find easy, she's already pissed she has to climb in and out of the truck  :D

Anyway, if you happen to find out about the SD card I'd appreciate any info, thanks !

Looks nice and as though it's factory installed.

    Few questions,
Does your steering wheel have the audio controls on it? If so, did you hook up your controls to it?

Did you hook up any of the satellite radio/bluetooth options? Also do you lose your standard AM/FM radio?

If you have a rearview camera did you re-route it to your screen?

Would you happen to have any pics of your deck with some of the different background colors available??

    Thanks

Sorry I haven't gotten any new info for you. But I'll find out soon.
My truck doesn't have steering wheel controls, but you can hook them up if you have them.

I have Bluetooth hooked up and it works great. I don't have satillite radio but I'm sure you can run satillite radio through it. As for the different backround pictures I'll get them for you soon

Yeah I knew that you could I was just curious to know if you had all of the other options hooked up and if you had had any difficulties with all the wiring.

Looking forward to seeing those pics, thanks!

I have a question, and you're the only person i know of online with one of these who could mess around with it and tell me.

I have a 2001 4runner I'd like to put this in, but the double din deck position is kinda low in the center of the dash.

I am aware that this deck has a tilting adjustable face on it... and that's great!

I want an apline because I want to use it with my ipod/iphone and i want to get the IMPRINT processing unit as well, but i don't really need the navigation m bluetooth, or even a dvd drive... although i'm sure i'd use if if i had it...

what i forsee myself needing is the tilt function tho, in order to get the screen more visible at the angle the desk will be mounted in.

Only their dvd players have a tilting face. My second choice to this model alpine is their IXA-W407

    seen here

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_20622_Alpine+iXA-W407.html

it will do what i want it to with iphone and imprint and be 7" touchscreen at about hald the price, just no tilt face...

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_20622_Alpine+iXA-W407.html

    so finally, my question...

WILL IT REMEMBER YOUR TILT SETTINGS AFTER SHUTDOWN?

I dont want to buy the higher cost model if i have to manually choose the angle of the tilt every single time i get in the car, you know?

please play around with the tilt settings and let me know if there is any tilt position memory. thanks so much. great writeup!

How do you like the type s speakers also??
