    Well, I accidentally ran across this amazing thread and got sucked in. Love the info and photos. Definitely different than my usual backyard hiking scenery (Big Bend) and now a contender for a summer trip.

    I got baptized by Beehive Geyser today :)
    Was watching from the boardwalk like always and then there was a sudden shift in the wind. There was no time to run so I just ducked and huddled to keep my camera out of the spray. Cameras dry, I got a nice refreshing shower and I got to see Beehive one last time this year.

    I've heard of it happening a time or two before - usually if the carcass is in an area where they dont want predator traffic or when they know the animal died of a disease that is communicable to other animals. They either blow them up or burn them

    Not surprised really... :sad: people think these places are either trash cans or wishing wells...
    They still have the whole area around Ear cordoned off, wish I could see it up close now. It had a lot of cool formations around it. They also have a lot of seismic sensors scattered around the area. I'll post some of last weekends pics eventually

    I'm curious as how a concrete block gets in there. Must be some careless worker, or maybe a lazy worker who didn't want to carry that last one out after a construction project. I don't know, kind of crazy what we find where.

    Blocks hold up the boardwalks... Or signs, maybe. Or a temporary barricade. Several reasons something could have been left there intentionally and then tossed in by someone else.

    Some of the seismic sensors scattered over Geyser Hill - there was a couple dozen in all. Ear Spring (the one that suddenly blew and started this whole mess) would be just off to the left. The sensors are about the size of a can of coffee

    Loving the info and the pictures in this thread as I work my way through it! This summer my wife and I are going to be driving from NY to AK and planning on spending a few days in Yellowstone on our way. Only issue is we are brining our dog with us on the trip. Can anybody recommend a kennel or a person who watches dogs? We will be coming from Mt. Rushmore, arriving in either Cody or Dubois on July 3, 2019. We can either take I-90 west into Cody or go down to I-25 west into Dubois depending on options and suggestions.
