    True.
But, since I got soaked today, and my RWs finally gave up the water proof ghost..,, I need some extra heat to thaw me out.

BTW, so far the RedWing in Shrewsbury has a thumbs up....

    I’m on the Upton/Grafton line off 140.
I’ll have to check that place out, it’s on the way to work.

Yep. Been using loggers pretty much since I became a civilian.

Cracked the sole in a -20 freezer at a site, and my feet got wet. They weren't insulated anyway. RedWing introduced some new stuff this year. They are supposedly giving my 30 days, and if i dont like them, i can swap them for some insulated loggers.

Im picky as hell, but, since i can spend 18+ on my feet, I sorta have to be.....

I’ve got some redwing loggers. Love them. My last three pair were Chippewa loggers and those were great too.

Yep. I go through a pair a year. Ive had the RWs and Chips side by side, im very convinced, they are are same.

But, the chemicals, and oils used in a lot of these plants, i slip and slide all over.

Time to try something else... at least at this juncture.

Have you been to Slab in Portland?

This must be a Westfield thing? Next time I am in the area I will have to stop by. Shit, for good pizza I can make the 30 minute drive.

I have really been liking my Carolina Max's and will probably get another pair. I've had them over a year now and the tread is getting low. Took a little to break in but they come with a removeable insole in them already. I stand on concrete all day long and wear them for a minimum of 12 hours a day, longer in the winter months

Still discussing the potential shift huh?

Honestly, its a double edged sword. While the choice seriously only involves you two, more input on how all parties involved should be welcome. Weigh it as you will, but, at least you will know where everyone stands.

When I enlisted, it was right after my 19th bday. I didnt say anything, to anyone other than a couple close friends, until 1 day before I shipped out for boot. It was MY choice. I was pretty sure i knew what everyone elses reaction would be... and did not want to deal with it.

Then, after serving 10 years, came home. Then, went back to Texas, then, came back here.
Ultimately everyone had an opinion. Most of them are irrelevant. But, information is always helpful, even if you know youre gonna be on the shitlist.....

Good luck bud, do what is best for yall.

I've been open about getting information and experiences from other that have gone through similar. Honestly doing that between on here, to friends, & parents it definitely brought up things I didn't quite think of so it worked out well. Both parents are getting to the point that their reasoning behind it is that we don't have every detail in place before making the move & that "this isn't how we would do it". I'm getting to the point of saying fuck it all and just going but, my GF isn't at that point though.

I've basically made up what I wanted to do but becasue of all the backlash it's causing me/gf I'm starting to second guess it :frusty:

I’m an only child and my mentality is very similar to yours. I went to college sort of far away and moved half way down the coast right afterwards. I’m obviously closer to my family now but not because I felt any pressure to be closer. Ultimately, what I learned is the people who really care will support you, even if they don’t necessarily agree with your decision. That said, if you give them a glimmer of hope that them protesting could sway your decision, they’ll still try to get you to change your mind.
