Which rack is that? Any reason you chose that particular one over ... Say... Prinsu?

eezi awn k9. custom to any size, they also don't take forever to get quotes or information. it's also a real flat rack vs the prinsu which has a lip at the side edges.

Low profile design, a lot less going on than the prinsu. And I like the look better.

If you are worried about cost, don't look at a habitat...

Life proceeded to explode on me shortly after getting the Habitat installed :boom:So I've just been running around like a madman trying to put out fires.

Oh it's much too late for that, haha

The one with the trailer is what started some of the fires, I apparently didn't have the trailer loaded up quite right, it was WAY too heavy, so it looks like I'm gonna be upgrading the suspension a lot sooner than I expected; according to a cursory look by the dealership I need new leaf packs and shocks. At least my pup likes it though, she spared no time in staking out "her spot"

Yikes! well glad you look to have made it home safely. And yeah, that's some major squattage. Was the truck bed loaded up too?

I never managed to leave home, really... that's about 30' out of my driveway  I just had some fatwood logs in the truck bed, even with everything taken out of the bed, it still sagged WAY too much. So, that shot my quick trip to Idaho, and then I had to run around like crazy trying to figure out if I screwed the truck up, and I had to get the trailer back to my neighbors by the 8th since they need it for Thanksgiving and I'm gonna be out of state starting on the 9th. But here in good ol' Colorado Springs, there ain't SHIT open on a Sunday, which is when all of this happened lol. So, I ended up having to take out a loan for another trailer and transfer everything over on Monday and yesterday. Moral of the story: moving sucks, and I have WAAAAYYYYYYY too much stuff

Wow... sounds like quite the fun times. I'm sure everyone is glad you didn't try driving that thing down the highway. Upgrading the shocks and springs was probably going to be a must anyhow, but sucks when it's pushed on you faster than expected.

And yes, moving sucks. I'm hoping I don't need to do that for another 15 years...

About par for the course for me, things rarely ever going according to plan. As we say in my family, "if it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all" lol. Me an my mom are both convinced my dad used up everyone else's luck in advance; he got away with a LOT of stuff in his wilder days, lol. Yeah, that's really the only silver lining; I was definitely going to upgrade the suspension anyways, just not anywhere near this soon. I really need to hurry up and sell my house to pay off all this debt that is stacking up FAST :ballchain:

Now you can move out, sell the house, and live in the Habitat for awhile.

Honestly, housing security has crossed my mind with this Hab. I also originally planned on selling the trailer once I was done with it, but then I started thinking of things like putting a bed and such in it, it's only a 12', but I could totally make it livable if things ever got really bad. Certainly beats living on the street or in a primitive shelter. Although, there's nothing wrong with primitive shelters if you do them right lol.

No on the drop hitch, but the trailer I had to pick up and transfer everything into is a double axle, and I tried to get more of the heavy stuff directly over the axles instead of tongue heavy. She still sags pretty bad though, but I don't know if that's due to damaged leaf springs now or what. I'm leaving day after tomorrow for a 3,000+ mile trip though, so suspension and trailer issues will have to wait until I get back at the end of the month

    Hey guys:
Winter is coming fast here in the midwest.
What have you guys done for cold weather modifcations: heaters insulation etc.
Who has camped with their habitats through a snow storm?
how did tent hold up? could it handle a significant snow load ( 4-8")
what sort of heating system configuration seem to work the best?

I was in the process of detaching, but wanted to get a picture to compare, so I lifted the foot just enough for all the weight to be on the tongue
