Yes the 2000 were about half the size....

Tacoma’s now are pretty much the same size as the 2000 tundras

But there is a crap ton of tech upgrades. It definitely doesnt justify a $12k price difference, but someones got keep the dealers lights on.

    Best I got quoted for a '19 4x4 OR (shortbed) was $36k.

Thing is Oct/Nov is not really a good time to buy newer stock. Dec end might be better as dealers will have end of year goals to meet. 2018 stock of Tacos (at least 4x4 trims are sold out in my areas) and 2019 is selling well enough for dealers not to give a shit to potential buyers looking for discounts.

However, Ford Ranger is hitting dealer lots in Jan and their pricing is just under par with the Taco so thats when the market may shift a little in the mid size trucks.

I've been holding out for either the Taco or the Ranger so just playing the waiting game right now. But if I do get a 2019 4x4 OR around $34k, I may pull the trigger. Dec 31st can't come fast enough. LOL.

That MSRP had me skip right past the Toyota dealer. That and, the truck has more stuff I don't want, than want on a truck.

That price is before tax, title and dealer fee. I had negotiated that price back in June and took delivery in the middle of October.

Good grief! What’s the average payment for these trucks? Unreal. I just sent twins to college so I’m out!

$37k for 72 months at 0% interest is $513 plus $200 per month fuel plus $50 per month insurance. That = F that. Lol

Yep..just paid off my X5 3 months ago and primarily the reason why I walked out on a salesman with half the paperwork done. My X5 has high mileage, extended warranty ran out but having zero car payment gives me a lot of monthly leverage financially.

I'd love a new truck right now but not that desperate either. I may still change my mind with the new Ranger though..LOL.

Seems like tundras and Tacoma’s are pretty much the same price these days

All these ‘extras” on the Tacomas don’t really add much to it being a truck

I believe mine was around 49xxx. I got 20k for my trade in, I put 4k down and got 1k off the sticker price as a military discount and financing through Toyota. I pay roughly 500 a month, voodoo blue trd pro with the desert air intake and all the trim options available, it was worth every penny!

So you’re telling us you saved $6000 off msrp and $10,000 off the final dealer price. I call BS on that since it would mean the dealer gave you a truck thousands and thousands of dollars below invoice. I would love to see proof. I’m sure there is a part of this equation, ie your trade in, that went into that deal if it is in fact real. Not trying to be a Richard but you can’t tell me your deal doesn’t sound far fetched.

    i call bs.

no way you knocked 10k off msrp without using either money down or trade in equity.

same difference. sticker plus addons totaled 44k and you're claiming to have walked out the door for 34k. I still call bs. No dealer is going to do that especially if they added 4k worth of add ons.

even if that truck was on their lot for a year, they're still taking a huge loss. if that was a new 17, i'd believe it, but an 18 i don't.

the invoice on a unoptioned 18 auto OR long bed is 34,208. No options, no packages. That dealer took a huge loss for no reason if what you say is true.

Keep in mind there could be incentives for selling a certain #, hitting a quota, etc. etc.

FYI what cost $26K in 2010 would cost well over $30K today just due to inflation. Plus as mentioned some upgraded performance and tech.

You can decide for yourself if it's worth it.

I remember when my dad paid $2500 for a late 60's Mercury Marquis with power everything. In Green Hornet Green. Still the coolest car I have ever had in my family. That was a lot of money back then.

I also remember when phone service was about $10 a month plus renting the phone for $2, long distance calls (MUCH) extra, and cable service in 1978 was $10 a month. We got about 15 channels plus HBO which they unsuccessfully tried to block with hardware.
