    Hello Everyone!

Just got myself a new 2018 TRD Pro and LOVE IT. However I hate Entune with a passion and really want to be able to use Apple Car Play.

Any suggestions on a new head unit that preserves most if not all of the functionality that Entune provides?

Just got a Pioneer AVH-4400NEX with Maestro myself off of Crutchfield.

Going to be a ton of options. Depends on your budget.

This setup looks legit, but I'm having trouble pricing out the Maestro bit.......the Pioneer AVH-4400NEX is $700 on Pioneer's website......how much more is the Maestro? I'm betting it's well worth it to keep all the OEM functionality

It won’t keep all the OEM functionality, just the steering wheel controls. You’ll loose the vehicle configuration options like headlight light delay, door lock button press etc etc.

I assume Carista would be able to take care of those settings. Correct?

It retained ALL the factory features, EXCEPT the notice on the screen when you have cross traffic while backing up. The mirrors still flash, and beep though. I used the Maestro as well, which allowed me to retain steering wheel controls. It also let me reconfigure the buttons. I hated the left/right buttons to control volume, and the up/down to switch tracks. I was able to reverse the configuration. Now the up/down controls the volume, and the left/right changes the tracks.

I was concerned I would lose some of the car settings, but I still have control of the beeps, the DRLs, and all the vehicle settings.

Plus its wireless Apple CarPlay as well as the Android Auto.

If memory serves me correctly, the Maestro goes for under 100 on Amazon.

I’d keep an eye out for a discount. When I bought it it was $170 instantly off the $700 msrp and I got the $150 Visa card. The Maestro and all the accessories to install was $179.95.

    Hi all

I keep seeing people refer to "Maestro" - what is that?

Maestro is the little computer thing that lets you use all the stock stuff with the truck, steering wheel controls, gas mileage, lets you change options on the truck... basically everything you would do with the stock headunit

At OP I am planning on going with a pioneer unit I got priced out with everything needed for install with front and rear camera connections for 700

Thank you, can most installation places add this as they add your head unit? Such as a Best Buy, etc?

Yeah most will, I wouldn't go to best-buy for a stereo install myself though.

I've been very happy with the Alpine Halo9.

You can read about it and see pictures in this thread.

I don't like the currently available dash kits for smaller head units (looks cheap to me) and the Halo9 solves that problem. A lot of newer cars have the 'floating' screens now.
