I had this happen to me last year but I had probably a three inch sheet of snow sitting on my windshield for a day or two. Hoping it doesn't happen again!

Just about everyplace now (even $1 store) sells dehydration cannisters. I use them in places when I want to see if there is moisture present. I would definitely be using them in your case, just to keep things under control until you can resolve the source. There was also a thread here from someone where they actually found a 4 inch hole in the front dash near the A/C system. In the end, they took the truck back as unfixable as I recall. So, it may not be the 3rd brake light. It also could be a window seal. I have also seen (not on a tacoma) an A/C system drain plug and overspill into the cabin. I would start looking for wet spots along the edges of the carpet/panels to narrow the focus.

If they bought it back that would be a blessing, this truck has been a headache.

So I got my truck back and they acknowledged there is a leak somewhere but they couldn't find it. They want to have the truck for a few days to do a tear down to figure out where it's leaking. They said if it's the windshield I will have to go through my insurance for a new one. That sounds like BS to me, no?

I don't see how a truck with under 30k miles is your insurance company's issue. You would think that would be something your dealership and Toyota would be able to work out for you. I digress though, my truck is my first brand new vehicle to me so maybe I'm oblivious to it all.

It doesn't seem right. Especially being a factory defect. Massachusetts insurance covers one free glass replacement a year but what if I get this done and then I actually break my windshield, I will be on the hook for the next one.

It sounds to me like your dealership is just trying to hand it off to them because you are offered one free glass replacement a year. Maybe try and talk to someone a little higher up there and share your concern. I agree with you, I don't think it sounds right and if I had that told to me I'd call bullshit right then and there.

It's probably not your windshield anyways... But I would be curious why a defect from Toyota on a truck with warranty would be my insurances problem.

Ask them to point out the damage to the windshield that they are using to claim this isn't a factory defect.

    I bet 3rd brake light.

Never seen so much on the inside. I would be worried about that water dripping down below/behind the dashboard and causing rust and/or problems with electronics and wiring.
Put a towel on top of the dashboard to stop the water getting behind.

Have you taken the truck through a high pressure car wash to try to see if more water comes in?

Bro get to another dealership that will actually fix that for you. I'm betting 3rd brake light and get that shit done asap before you start getting mildew and mold issues.

I'd grab some damp rid from your local hardware store and crank the shit out of the heat every time you drive it.

Yeah I think I am going to have to do that. My parents car had a leak before and to this day it still smells like mildew inside.

Try putting a piece of clear packing tape on top of your 3rd brake light to make a temporary seal between the cab and brake light and see if that helps at all untill you can get her in.

Mine does fog more than any other vehicle I've owned. Gotta frequently use defrost to keep the fog down. Someone said on another similar forum that these tacoma cabs are tightly sealed which causes the fogging.

That being said this is clearly a problem with your truck. Water droplets!? Come on Toyota!
