I think I may have you guys beat in bike related injuries. Within a year I slammed my head on my neighbors rim when I was on training wheels and got 25 stitches in my forehead and soon after I healed up I was off the training wheels and was on a turn and took a spill and spiral fractured my femur. My parents were investigated because I had those injuries so close to each other and child services thought could be abusing me .

    BAH!!!
We had a large hill of dirt in our neigborhood, and everyone "Talked" about going to the top an ridding it down. Halfway down was a ledge, and we used to always say how high we could get with all the speed we would have. Well....One day we were all gathered around it, and talking about riding down/jumping it. I told everyone "I'll do it..AND Ill use my Moms bike!" Welp....I went home, got her bike, rode to the top of the hill, and looked down. Everyone was looking at me like this:
So....I aimed the bike down the hill.....went to Warp 9.....Hit the ledge...lost control. Now....A little about this bike. It was OLD. It had a bolt holding the front wheel on. When I hit the ground, I landed face first on the bike, and that bolt went into my chest. Inbetween 2 ribs. I had to ride the bike back home, holding my shirt against my chest to stop the bleeding. When I came around the corner, My folks were outside, and my Mom screamed "What did you do to my BIKE!!!". As I pulled into the driveway, she saw the blood (Her expression: ), and took me to get fixed. Still have the scar.

LOL! My brother and I were good at taking chances on bikes. My Brother KNEW he could jump his bike, off of our roof, and into the pool.....Even though, our pool was 25 feet from the house. He couldnt, and another trip to the ER.

I think that my best was Big Wheel related. We used to live in a hilly neighborhood and the street behind ours had the biggesst hill. We were having a family gthering at the house and my cousin and I decided to take my neighbors big wheel and ride it down the big hill. I started off easily enough quickly gained speed to near the national speed limit (bear in mind this was in 1980, pre 55). At the bottom of the hill, the street turned to the left a bit. Once I reached this point I tried to turn, but as big wheels have hard plastic front wheels with little traction, the vehicle continued straight towards the curbing. Once hitting the curb with the right side of the big wheel, I was pitched off of it onto my left hip and elbow. This position was maintained for about 10 feet as I slid to a stop in the gravel and particularly course road surface. I gathered myself up and looked at my elbow to see what appeared to be the bone amidst some ground flesh and dirt and began screaming my head off.

Almost as painful as the injury was when I arrived at the hospital and they started to clean me up. Iodine solution and a fingernail scrubbing brush were used to get the foreign material out of my elbow before stitching me up. I wear the scar with honor.

OOooo...The "Big Wheel" ! I dont think I ever wrecked mine. well......I plowed into my brother alot of times, but that was when I was in "Attack mode", and ramming him intentionally. My biggest 3 wheeler crash was, My Dad put "Off Road" tires on my try cycle, and I got good at riding it on 2 wheels.....leaned over. Well....I was turning into our driveway, and I tipped it over. and landed RIGHT in the middle of a Cactus. Didnt need to go to the ER, but I had about 14 million holes in me body. :( My brother laughed his ass off, so when I was able, I hopped on the Big Wheel, and rammed him again.

Awww that sucks it's like a damn meat grinder. Makes me think of the dare devils that don't wear leathers and slide on the asphalt for hundreds of feet. Gives me the chills thinking about it.

I was 16yrs. old & very much into riding for fitness. (like the spandex & the whole deal:rolleyes:) I had a Royce Union 21 speed racing bike...
I went to my mom's work to borrow her car. It was 2 days before I was to start 11th. grade. I borrowed the car and returned it to her work. I then proceeded to take off at "ludicrous" speed to go home. I'd guess I could hit +30mph on that thing.
I rounded a gentle curve and punched it. as I reached crusing speed in top gear I lifted the front forks to skip over a sewer grate.
The front forks had a "quick release" set up to easily change the tires. Well, at this point the tire decided to quick release as I was going damn near as fast as I could.
I just remember waking up in the hospital as I was vomiting blood.
The front forks hit the ground and catapulted me about 20ft. and I landed on my face.
Severe concussion. Broken nose. Dislocated jaw.
I was hospitalized for a week.
My bottom lip was almost completely ripped off of my jaw.
Well over 300 stitches in my face.
In the ER an on-call plastic surgeon worked for 3 hrs to remove the gravel from my face and sew up the rips & tearing as best he could.
Somehow when I flew off the bike the right pedal tore a 3" long and 1/2" deep gash in my right shin too.
I managed to remove a lot of skin from both of my shoulders as well.
My hands were fine - there was not enough time for me to reach out to try and cushion the fall.
Over a 6 month period I had 3 sessions of reconstructive plastic surgery.
Needless to say my junior year of high school was hell.
So, no more bikes for Craig...

Hmmm......I may get into this "Mobil Mechanic" thing after all.......Went to Harbor Freight this morning, there was a guy with his hood up. I asked What is wrong, and the guy said "I dont know". I asked if I could take a look at it, and he said "Sure, but my wife is comming to give me a jump". WEll.....Truned out his connections to the battery were shot, and burned (Loose connection), and his battery was DEAD. I fixed his connections, and got his car running (It was a Chevy...not a Ford thank God), and he gave me 25 bucks......Not a bad take for 10 mins of work....
