The answer to your question depends on what your riding IMO. I currently ride a '17 Trance with some upgrades (probably some bias here). I bought it (at a hell of a discount) when I was still living in the mid-west. Moving to CO I had some concerns that it wasn't going to suit my needs given significant trail / terrain differences. After 7 months of riding it here I can tell you those concerns are completely gone. The bike really is a great all around solution and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. But again it depends on what you ride and how comfortable it feels to you. Where are you located and what type of riding are you doing?

Note: You can find the Trance 2 at steep discounts on end of seasons sales and demo bike sales.

    Thanks!
I am hugely grateful for the advice. I live in SoCal, south OC. We have many hills/mountains and trails. I am not the type to bomb a hill looking to set records, I am also not the strongest climber. I think I am looking for a bike that can "do it all" but may not be the best at any of it. I am also not the type to buy a bike every couple of years and like to ride them until it costs more to repair than to replace. I have had my current FS bike for around 6 years. It's at the point most everything is failing in one way or another, and the technology has advanced so much I figured it be worth looking into.

It sounds like what I need to do is demo the bikes for a day and see what feels comfortable. I will check into the discount on demo/previous year bikes in my area.

    Thanks again!

What is the height from bed rails to the bottom on the crossbar? I’m looking to do the same thing, but hoping to have enough clearance to roll the tonneau cover under the crossbars.

About 4 inchs. It's no enough to roll up cover without lifting it up. Only takes a second to lift if up though and whole thing comes off easily as well.

Who shuttles in their Taco? I once got 7 riders/bikes in mine for a ride up. 3 bikes on a Northshore rack, 4 over the tailgate, 4 riders in the cab, and 3 riders sitting in the back. 4 door short bed :p. Who has gotten more?

Haven't gotten to ride MTB in six days due to conditions. Winter is back for us in the southeast.

I wish we got snow instead of cold-ass rain

Haha nice! Yeah, the truck was definitely loaded down since I'm still on stock suspension...but it was a smooth gravel road.
