Thanks man. I doubt it, it's definitely a factory assembly issue, much like the 2AZ? I think it was in the small cars in the mid 2000's. Monitor it and if you get it report it to Toyota corporate in the hopes that if enough people report it they'll issue either a tsb or a recall.

This post actually got me thinking about 3rd gens today, I did a bit of searching and found about 90% of my mods would bolt onto a 3rd gen, I'd just have to swap over stock stuff onto mine and then sell or trade in. I decided I'm not that big of a douche, since getting the new valve cover back on the truck really struggles to run, I was barely to make it around my block, I'd hate to pass that on to someone else who just wanted a taco and thought they were getting a deal. Basically the truck is going into storage now, I've gotta do ujoints on my 86, now too.. I'm gonna start to disassemble the taco make it less appealing to potential thieves. You know remove tent, vhf radio etc stuff that people would try and quickly take. I'll be starting to slowly take everything apart and prep the engine for removal as well, so it can be dropped off at the engine builder. Also going to start assembling parts for when the new engine comes back to me most likely in the new year. Gonna slap a header and new exhaust on there since the cat is most likely plugged full of oil. Also gonna replace the clutch while it's all apart and whatever other goodies I can sneak into this when my fiance isn't looking lol

I agree that passing it to someone else would not be nice, but by trading it in the dealer becomes responsible and will need to repair or get rid of it...

Do you still have that Volks for DD?

So I scanned the taco with an obd2 scanner and it says it's the cam position sensor, I'm gonna double check everything is plugged in right when I get home from work tmrw, but if it is I'll add this to the growing list of parts that need to be replaced.

So I'm adding things to the build list
New air box cause mine is letting dust in it seems the top of the filter box is dusty on the intake side of the filter
    Magnaflow turn down cat back
    Lce header
Hurst short shifter (which is longer shaft than OEM and angled different so my coffee won't get trapped when I'm in second or 4th)
    Aisin clutch and urd tob

Fuck it might as well spend while I'm spending

    :spending:

Lce headers and Hurst shifter are going to make a really nice difference!

I solved my check engine light issue. The cam pos sensor wasn't plugged all the way in. Intermittent signal caused the cell, I cleared the code with my scanner, gonna take the truck to work tmrw to see how it runs, I'll be data logging the trip just cause I can. My 86 threw a ujoint so I ordered some greasable Spicer joints should have them by wednesday, really sucks that I have to order stuff online to get a decent price, 77$ for all 3 joints with shipping, local parts store wanted 30$ a joint for Moog garbage

Ordered up a dual pillar pod and some auto meter gauges. I did the dual pod cause it looks cooler than a single, gonna shove a oil pressure gauge in there and an Afr guage cause it looks cool

Mobil 1 5/20 or 30 whatever the spec is, too cold here for the 0/20, I see they make Rotella now for gassers so I'll probably do that with the new engine

While you're still on this one try using heavier oil and see if that slows down the consumption

I've been driving it actually since my 86 need ujoints it's been doing ok.. I'll continue to monitor it as is.. the rebuild is happening either way so slowing down the consumption is meh at this point

So the other day I took my tent and awning off the truck, and put them into storage for the winter or until the truck is running properly again. The cat is now pretty much fully plugged. She just drinks fuel, and runs like shit.

On the bright side I ordered an lCE Header and pillar gauge pod for the oil pressure and other gauge I decide to put in there most likely AFR

Do you have a link to the pod and gauge you will be using?

    Thanks!
I have looked and can't seem to find one of these for a 2015. Have read where with a little trimming this one will work. So might give it a try.
