Actually, 88 MPH was never supposed to happen in the DeLorean. The speedometer only went up to 85. They had to glue a custom lens so it went up to 120.

DeLorean put a sports car body on a French tractor.

I sold the original steering knuckles I had on the PreRunner, since I had replacement Manual Hub steering knuckles.

I rebuilt the manual hub steering knuckles completely, in exception for the wheel bearings (which I regret). The manual hubs had powder coated dial faces, new ‘O’ ring, snap ring, pawl and clutch, and hub bodies.

The steering knuckle itself had new OEM Upper Ball Joints, and a fresh coat of POR15. I don’t recall if I did the seals.

When I lifted, I drove out the new OEM UBJ’s which only had about 15k. Once you drive them out, they’re destroyed, so I trashed them. I still have the OEM Upper Control Arms, I’m trying to sell those.

Yeah, I kind of wish it was the 5-lug designed steering knuckle. Three bolts and it comes out.

Possibly good news; my frame has arrived on Maui.

They left me a voicemail saying they need to re inspect the truck because another dealer did it. He left me a voicemail saying that there could be additional cost at my expense ie rotten gas tank, rotten rear axle housing, wear items like shocks.

I figured I’d have to replace wear items but the possibility of having to buy an axle housing ? What the heck.

I think it depends on the dealer. Some dealers replace all broken parts at the expense of Toyota, some make you pay.

 

They are getting like 16 grand from corporate I think I saw on the invoice
