We took the camper out for the last time for this year this weekend and attended the AOAA event in PA. What a blast we had! I got in a group to do green runs and some light blues and I will say it wasn't what I expected. The trails were really tight in many places with trees only inches from the truck so we had to fold the mirrors in, lots of water so much so it went over the hood a couple of times, lots and lots of rocks, and some pretty good hills to climb and blind drops into really sharp switch backs. For green runs I would have never expected we banged down on the skids pretty hard 6 or 8 times and used the sliders a couple of times. I was a bit nervous but the truck did great I only got hung up once and on our last obstical, of course, with a little help from others spotting we made it through though without haveing to be winched. I am sure alot of this would have been easy for most of you but it wasn't what we expected hell we found out later some of what we had been taken down were basically atv trails but we did it and had fun!

The event itself was great and I appreciate @Blackout14 for inviteing us to join in. The campground is very basic but nice. We all had room and the mods we made to the camper to make it self sufficient deffinately paid off again.

So now for a picture dump. There isn't any order to these Christie just kept snapping away but we couldn't get any good action pics of the truck as I was a little busy driving. For those of you who have beento these types of things you know any pictures can't do justice to how rough it is

At the top of this is where we got hung up but we made it!

Looks like AOAA was a good experience! Sounds like you had a chance to really see what good armor can handle...I didn't really appreciate my skids to I started to give them some love on the trail. Looking forward to seeing where you take the taco next.

Probably not much of anywhere except hunting until spring. Then we’ll see that was about as rough as i care for to be honest.

I really wish I had known about this before I would of gone to this. I am looking forward to our small group run next weekend. Love all the pics! Glad everything held up well and did what it's supposed to do! I'm getting pumped and making some final preps for my trip, can't lie getting a little bit of nervous excitement!

It was a really cool place. As we haven't been anywhere else like Rousche Creek or Uhawrrie or anywhere I have no viable comparrison to give you and, I am sure, you run more challenging trails than I would anyway. I would like to try Uhawrrie next year just green runs most likely. It's a lot of fun and meeting everybody is fun as I'm not active with any of the groups around here. What we did was about as rough as I think my back can handle ,as always, the truck never blinked at anything we did with it. I sure hope you have fun and feel it was deffinately worth the drive up there as you are about twice as far as we are from there.

I got to go hunting for the first time this year. After all the rain we had last night I didn't want to pull the trailer across the yard this morning and the battery in the 4 wlr was acting pretty weak (I ended up putting a new one in) I decided to just take the truck this morning and have a little fun. with all the rain it was pretty nasty, couple small water crossings, and some rocks. Nothing real cool but fun none the less. Only saw one smallish 6 point and 5 does for the day.

I took the 4wlr up this afternoon after I put a new battery in it and ran all the logging roads. Some are a little tight for the truck and the 4wlr is just more practical

Yep it ws alot of fun. The trails were more challenging than I expected but that just made it more fun. I'm thinking next year makeing a run to Uhawrrie if @ovrlndkull and some of the folks from down there can get together. I liked AOAA and would deffinately go again. Great group of members that attended and an overall great experience. I'd just like to try a couple more places before I start repeating, if that makes any sense. We also keep trying to gradually work ourselves out a little further and a little further. So far, AOAA was our furthest trip.

If you want to do Uwharrie lets start planning something for the spring! You @PyritePirateBill @Wild Crow and some others could come down. There is camping on the trails but that's not really for me I'd rather camp at Yates Place (it's free). Tons of stuff to do there run some trails, gun range, hang out. Trails can be taken slow and done throughout the weekend. URE is about 1/16th the size of AOAA. The lake is cool, there is some hiking. I think that would be more your speed.

That sounds perfect. Make it a long weekend and we can deffinately enjoy ourselves. I would love to get @Wild Crow and @PyritePirateBill involved and perhaps I could get @TacoFMS to come with us. You and him could do the harder trails his truck is built for. This is deffinately going to have to be discussed more

URE will be closing for the season soon and won't open again till April so we got plenty of time.

Great. I’m hoping maybe I’ll get to slip down your way sometime this winter to visit anyway. A triplike you described camping and wheeling would be fun even more so if I can convence these ofhers to go. We did the “tunnel of love” at aoaa you posted it was supposedly green?

Yeah it's a green to me. There were a few we did that I thought should of been in between green and blue or blue.

We didn’t get to do anything on the west side. If we go back i plan on us spending the day over there. How do the greens and blues there compare to URE

Muddier/wetter. It's really a different animal. On the rocky trails I noticed everything was extremely loose even the big ol rocks. Here everything is really locked in for the most part so it's easy to use them to your advantage. I would say there it's less rock and what makes the blues hard is the looseness and the steepness of the trails also how tight they are.

There was deffnately plenty of mud and water, as you regrettedly found. We went through a couple that looked easily as deep as what you had to go through thank the Lord I got lucky and didn’t have the same experience

I was extremely unlucky! No it's time to do the snorkel into the cowl mod just to be safe. There isn't really anything like the water we went through at URE
