That little grey guy is the high speed transistor array that fires the coil when the signal from the dizzy position sensor and ECU tell it to. It makes a decent chunk of heat and needs a bracket to hold it in place, so I'm making a bracket out of alum rather than the usual steel

Space constraints are a bitch though so I needed a 180° bend

It had one, but in the early 80s transistors were fine and dandy in radios and such but high speed transistors for high current hadn't come too far yet and the one my car came with is due for an upgrade. The upgraded part however has its plug integrated so space constraints are an issue if I reuse the old heatsink. I took a picture comparing the heights... You can see why I have to mount it to the underside of my nice 180° bracket now.

I saw a dog fall out of the bed of a truck on the highway with cars right behind it...needless to say it wasn't pretty.

Did that just happen? That sucks but if it was absolutely between that or swerve going that fast, then you made the right choice. No one makes an evasive maneuver in a 1st gen Tacoma going 80mph and recovers from it

Haha I love when people on the forum (particularly 3rd gen owners) whine and bitch about the mods and the website like it's some publicly owned company that they have shares in and a right to privacy on...
