... and the inside will smell like Fluid Film. I love that stuff...

 

Finally installed the hood shocks that I got from the last group buy. I have to say, can't believe I waited so long to get these. I haven't been this happy about something that I installed on my truck in a loooong time. I must have sat there opening the hood like 20 times like a little kid. The shocks have a soft stop like high end tool boxes. Pop the hood, lift & just let go. I absolutely f'n love these things!

I didn't use the pop rivets & self tapping screws that came with the kit though. Instead I used rivnuts & stainless button head screws.

 

I need those rivnuts for my snorkel!!! link?

Currently moving it to remove my rear axle and leafs. Used axle and my my leafs will go on it to keep it rolling. My axle and deavers will be on the new frame soon enough. (This is a pain to do by yourself)

 

I can dig some prius sized tires.

That’s a great idea to avoid drilling the apillar.. I think I’d use 3m double stick foam tape, that shit is strong AF.

 

Don't use tape. You'll end up with more rust. The mastic that is in there is to help prevent water migration up through the weatherstrip. I believe some condensation may also occur there due to temp differences there.

If you use anything, I would use something that stays soft like the original mastic. 3M says their's is to hold the W/S in place, but it also helps like the original to prevent water movement.

Do not use Fluid Film on the pinch welds and slip the seal back over it. Despite all the hype Fluid Film can ruin rubber

 

I got the same one, works great but is a pain in tight spaces. Might look for another one for those areas.

Literally just ordered one of those on Amazon like an hour ago lol..

 

Today was a big day for the 02' DC/OR 4x4 - dash, door repair/maintenance. Installed new Spark Plugs, Continental Belts, AC compressor, Nitto Tires, TRD sticker (mountain OR), headlight bulbs, signals, and Fuel Filter.

 

Has anyone re-geared to 4.88? I’m looking to gain some power and fuel economy back, additionally make it easier to tow my enclosed trailer long distances. 3RZ Auto doesn’t help my case.

Nitro sells the 4.88 front and rear master set for about $950, curious as to what everyone else has paid and if the regear was worth it.

 

Throw a W59 transmission under it. 4:30 to 4:88 aint much of a difference.
