Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

About 300 ish miles on 1.04r. The engine is now useable <2k rpm. The shifting still gets a little funky when climbing bridges. That’s about it.

Will write more detailed review. Maybe a video.

 

I haven’t sent any yet but honestly I’m not sure what could be improved. I haven’t see any issues.

87 MA. there’s only FO for 91 and 93

 

Whatcha mean?? We're talking trimming for tire rub. When I bought mine it had a bds 6inch already, my front cab mounts are trimmed back and the crosmember is cut out so the front drives shaft will clear either the difference dropped. 10,000 miles on a truck with a major piece of frame just Sawzalled off like nothing lol but I'm not worried about pulling the lift for anything so it's fine with me but for any of you guys out there thinking about going 6 in with 35s just know you can't go back to stock after. Unless you rebuild the crosmember. And no matter what your cab mounts will need trimmed for a 34in tire or larger or you'll rub

 

I seem to actually lose a little bottom end and a one or so mpgs if I take her ethanol away lol it seems much happier with e10 honestly 93 from country fair (citgo) is the best I found around me. And there's a refinery in the middle of town lol so ethanol free is everywhere and fresh as can be. My truck just isn't all about it like my previous Tacoma were

What’s the best spacer lift I can get for my 2018 SR with tinted back windows that won’t void my warranty?

 

its a 21 gallon tank, so if you are getting 15mpg, it's really 315 miles max to the tank. I get 16-18 on average and that nets me a true 350 miles per tank

 

1.04R. Cruise set at 64. 265/70r17. TRDOR 4WD.

Has anyone ever been able to get more than 19gallons in the tank though? Even with 0 miles remaining and my fuel gauge completely empty it still only took 18.8gallons

 

I have put over 20 in several times. Even his the big 21 once which should not have happened since the tank is not any larger then that.

 

I always thought that the "miles to empty" was really just "miles until you REALLY need to fill up"...leaving a 1 or 2 "oh sh*t" gallons.

 

There is around 2 gallons left at 0 miles.

 

yes 20+ gallons every time I run it down to 20 miles remaining. BUT, after the pump shuts off automatically, you have to spend the last 2 gallons topping it it off and letting it drain back down. There are those that oppose this practice because it fills the carbon cannister with gasoline, but it will take the entire 20+ gallons and fill right to the lip of the filler port.

 

Just like we no longer have transmission dipsticks or fully serviceable driveshafts, the fuel warning on vehicles means you can still drive another 30-40miles before you find yourself stranded on the side of the road. Far fewer people on the highway carrying gas cans these days as a result.

I had been wondering that exact thing, several times the readout has said something like "10 miles to empty" but the needle isn't even touching the "E" hash, I figured there must be some kind of dummy proofing though. But I also didn't know if that whole safety buffer thing was just an urban myth. Maybe someday I'll run her completely dry as long as I've got a jerry can in the back . (although I've heard running completely dry is bad for the equipment, so maybe not)

That would be very hard on both fuel pumps. Especially the high pressure one.

 

I have once, but I think it’s because some is in the lines and fuel pump

 

Anyone keen on the idea of a flex fuel setup?

 

Something I have already considered, but we're talking really terrible mpg compared to what people see now.
