You stay out of this Colton!

But this does seem to be happening more and more to any threads I post in lately...

    :ohsnap:

You know, so many threads get derailed so quickly around here,we should probably make up an acronym for it, similar to IBTL and different from off-topic.

How about FAART (first attempt at redirecting thread).

    Whaddaythink, Will?

And we can have IBTFAART (in before the FAART). Ahahahahahaha!

And there I go, I am now derailing my derail...with even more inappropriate innuendo. Argh!, in-you-end-oh for Pete's sake, I need help. Pete. Peter...uh, huh huh huh, I said "Peter":annoyed:

    What am I, 12years old?

    All roads lead to smut!

So, yes, back on topic, suspension upgrades, very serious business...what was the question? How about a group buy? Oh, wait...

*begin attempt to get thread back on track*

Since I'm stubborn and refuse to start another thread I'm keeping this one going...hopefully...

I washed and sprayed grease on every surface of the rear suspension and the squeaks subsided for a few days. Until I went out and found some more mud to drive through. Squeaks are back. :goingcrazy: How much longer am I going to have to live like this?!?!?

Anyone have other suggestions to fix my squeaky rear end? Its embarrassing...

you might have to get some greasable shackles or something of that sort. unless you already have them, i havent read all of your posts been skimming.

BTW my rear leafs look exactly like your old ones did, yikes!

I know you would LOVE for me to re-read this ( where did I put my bi-foc's ??;) ) BUT do you have "Shims" in between your springs???
Could they be "Catching" any foreign debri unless thoroughly washed ???

I totally agree with converting to "greaseable" parts, amazing how constant PM helps when "playing" in mud/water.....I should know...my Mack Office "Plays" constantly and without PM's "IT" would sound louder than the "Green Room" :p;)......

Plus, since you "Own" this thread.......Where are the picturex, much easier to HELP when we can see things,especially.....rear ends .....;)

    Old-timers...can't remember anything!

I do have the friction pads inbetween the leafs. I washed everything down last weekend and then pried each leaf apart and sprayed in some white lithium grease. Also hit every moving part under there - all the shackles and bolts. Maybe the grease just cant work its way into all of the nooks and crannies...It helped for a few days but now its noisier than ever.

My temporary solution...music stays cranked up to drown out the squeaks. Long term solution ?????? Hmmm, blame YotaDan for selling me defective leaf packs?!?!

And there's already plenty of pics of my rear end on here. Both the "sad & saggy" version and the new & improved & noisy version!

OK, chica, I am going to try to stay on topic and be helpful this time.

So, Lisa, I was thinking of you, and I jumped into bed and starting making noise.

    No, wait...

So I got on my back bumper this morning and jumped up and down. Squeaks. Not terrible, but squeaks. And keep in mind I have not been offroad at all since I put these on last weekend, and no rain or anything. Probably 300 miles on them. And before I put these on, I cleaned out any and all remnanats of old rubber bushing from the reused shackle pins and the upper shackle pin's rubber bushing. I use greased on the new bushings and antisieze on the pins/bolts inside the metal sleeves. It was buttered up good.

I tried to listen for where it was coming from, and it sounded like it was nowhere near the shackle areas or leaf tips/pads, and was much closer to the U-bolt/axle area. :notsure:

I think the answer is turn up the music and let them break in for a while, and just keep smiling ear to ear about the awesomely improved ride and handling. I can't see trying to "lube" the leafs on a regular basis, especialy up enar the U-bolts. I am too busy with the rest of my life...

For stubborn squeaks, Use Brake Fluid. DO NOT GET IT ON PAINTED BODY PARTS. Squirt it on the U bolts, bushings, and in between the leaves. ANd stay out of the mud.

    :facepalm:men...

I'm not sure of the exact source of the squeaks either. I guess the next step might be to get underneath while someone else jumps around in the bed and...there is no good way to finish that sentence with you guys around. Uhhhh...I just need to be able to pinpoint the location that the squeaks are coming from. And I've got about 3,000 miles on them since install. Should be past the break in period by now.

    But I like mud!
What if I put Saran Wrap on the leaf packs after greasing them up? Would that keep the mud out?

hahaha i dunno about that one, wouldnt hurt to try i guess though. mud and water can pretty much go anywhere it wants. the upward and downward movement of the leafs would tear that stuff up easily.

Easiest way to get rid of those "SQUEAKS"......."Road Trip" to the "RIGHT Coast".stop in and visit with friends, enjoy Yankee hospitality.plus maybe wheel with "MUD ROD";)....

Or you could be on top jumping in your ( Tacoma) bed and have someone underneath looking for squeaks ...different eyes see different things....;)

dude i got a 1st gen tacoma and i have 400 dollars in the front and 200 in the rear. if you got a garage and a welder you can do pretty much anything. Im running stock arms so i dont have much travel, but ive fabricated my truck to run 4 inches of hydraulic bump stops. i removed the stock bumps. these things are frackin amazing. i got super lucky on buying some coilovers. but get some decent strut replacements and stick some hydraulic bump stops on there and you will be a champ. As for the rear i just cut the overload leaf off ( keeping it at the same ride height and not having to replace the bolts). get some decent shocks in the rear and you can romp like a champ buddy. my truck feels like theres about 2500 dollars in it with the bump stops. Ive never heard of people doin this other then me, but its cheap and you can have a lot of fun with it.
