Did you look back to where I calculated his rpm, 4.88 would be perfect for him

I'm still on stock 4.10s...didn't notice much of a change going from 32s to 33s, but then again my former KO2 32s were actually a bit heavier than the skinny 33" Coopers I have on now.

I don't really ever plan on doing 35s to this truck unless I end up keeping it forever and it eventually just becomes a trail toy...but I would like to add a front locker one of these days sometime soonish. And you know what they say, if you're gonna open up the front end to add a locker you might as well regear while you're at it. But then I'd have to regear the rear, too. Yeah F that lol.

I didn't even notice that big of a loss going from 31's to 33's. Yeah I lost some get up and go and can't lug gears as much, but it still has a good amount of power and will go as fast as you need it to. Hell I've pulled a trailer with a car on it on my 33's and it was doable

yeah I don't notice much lack of power with my truck either (supercharger  ) unless I'm going up a steady long grade on the freeway, especially with added weight in the bed...then I can really tell where my truck's weak spot is.

Yeah I usually just downshift earlier and get the revs a little higher rather then riding it down to where I "need" to shift

oh yeah I avoid shifting on long highway grades if at all possible...talk about killing your momentum lol. I'll usually just hold 4th gear and push that as much as I can (usually no more than 70mph) right around 3100 rpms. Any higher and I feel like my truck will explode, maybe it's the headers but it's loud AF above 3k RPMs. I don't notice much more power coming from it if I do push it further than that, anyway.

Think I read somewhere that the 5VZE makes it's peak power around high 4k RPMs..? I dunno how that's possible because after 3 it feels like it's plateaued to me. Maybe I need to redline it more often :p

Yeah for a small v6 they make pretty good low end power, just gotta rev them higher to fight gearing, I'm the same I'll rev mine as high as it needs to go but try not to hold it much over 3k for long periods of time. I think my record was about 10 minutes at 5k trying to make a long snowy hill climb

No I didn't. I don't see how 4.88, auto, & 32s would be perfect. 4.56 is about close to stock with 33's & when I used a calculator along with the speedo gear tooth count, the speedo is about spot on as well. But going from 4.10 to 4.56 is not worth it & won't feel that much of a difference for 33s.

Most people go 4.88 with 33s and auto, some do 4.56 with 33s & manual. Some people go 5.29 with 33s & auto for more pep but I find 33's 4.88 & auto perfect for me. Speedo ran about 7-8mph too fast so being auto I had to recalibrate my speedo as the trans was shifting too earler (doesn't really matter for manual).

Just about, IIRC should be about 2700ish at 80mph. I forget exactly but not over 80mph stock.

I don't think I've ever gone past 4k RPMs in my truck, honestly. I always shift at or just before 3k

Stock on his truck sucks, 4cyl auto, so yes the ratio has a bit more advantage but still at 70mph he'd only be pushing around 2500rpm with 4.88

lol yeah I've never redlined this thing and I don't intend to. I know it's 'supposed' to be able to handle it but it freaks me out to push it that hard.

I always feel a little bad afterwards but they handle it just fine, if hitting rev limiter hurts a motor then something was about to go anyway

I like to shift exclusively at redline. I even run the cruiser up to it's 5k redline for good measure now and again. Are you not doing power pulls with the SC, gotta use WOT to get the full tire smoking effect
